the true nature of shoes

I remember Kruschev pounding his shoe at the UN,
the heckler throwing his at Bush,
it's a good thing some folks have shoes
it's a better thing to know the shoes of the fisherman
are on loan to anyone who will wear them.

The scorpion's nature is to sting
the frog that would carry him across the lake,

Both die in the end.

The sea is tranquil sometimes, in fairy tales it takes a hundred years
to awaken. Wars come and go, wars last too long.
Lovers and soldiers leave footprints in the sand, the tide washes
them away.

I remember both shoe incidents. But I think the heckler should have thrown rotten tomatos at Bush. I liked these lines best:

The sea is tranquil sometimes, in fairy tales it takes a hundred years
to awaken. Wars come and go, wars last too long.
Lovers and soldiers leave footprints in the sand, the tide washes
them away.

always, Cat
