TRAINS :THE BRONX INTO MANHATTEN

BRONX INTO MANAHTTEN

Clickety-clack
trains on the tracks
high above
cobblestone streets
they screech
angrily
spitting sparks at each stop
cars shaking
impatiently.

we vibrate all as one
holding on back to back
to old black leather straps
knees to torn straw seats
sliding side to side
eyes stare ahead
rows of the living dead

rollercoaster ride
here we go
hills and curves
sun, rain or snow
Into tunnel dark
Pelham Bay Park
to East Side
sardines in a box….

this train ride. It's a very relaxing read at the end of a tiresome day. Very easy to understand and creates a wonderful image of a train experience in the mind.
Thank you so much!

:) I first road that train line Christmas time of 1945 and many many years since.

You have lived a long time and can remember that train.

This should then be a memorable piece of writing..

"It is" and a damn good write at that..

You take care of things, that memory is toned for the distance..

I can hardly remember yesterday if it was there at all.

Joe that we can write as you do at our years then I can say

We are good for a while longer, you take care, Yours Ian.T & Sadie.

I could see and hear the trains stop at our station 3 blocks from where we lived My paternal grandfather had built the 2 story home in 1928, That is the place of my memories. the rooms on the 2nd floor got the brunt of the heat off the flat tar roofs, It was the sound of the traiins that lulled me to sleep and woke me in the morning

Beautiful memories something to hold, the old heat from the flat roofs and all those other things are a joy now,
even though at the time they could have been hard to cope with,
This is Life Joe,
