Third Stone Revelation

Gripped in ancient curve of world,
hazed blue to black on turns of planet speeding slow
across bright vision of new civilization,
the gleam of shining cities spread myriad
along brief crusted scabs of continent
means nothing to the emptiness of eons
light itself can never conquer
through instances of stellar distance…

…no culture proud will cross a million years
of centuries grown geologic in glacial duration…

…no nation now extant will stay unscathed through
slap of extinction driven deep by change of clime
or silent giant speeding cold through darkness
to kiss affronted ocean…

…no language spoken now
will reach the edge of galaxy’s turn
before its death or transformation…

…and yet we fling our essence
ever outward at the stars,
insignificance of exploration reaching out
through shockwave boundary between
our common sun and emptiness ungrasped
by minds chained down by living,
the frenzy of our candle lives
guttered always onwards
in growing sphere of driven light expanding
from the shifting eye of history revealed,
shining music, bloody wars and lasting peace,
grim famines,
masterpieces,
rank disease and mathematics,
medicine, faith,
extermination,
playfulness and poverty,
poetry and technology,
politics and spoken word,
victory and pain
and hope
all reaching out to touch the nearest arc of suns
and any mind like ours.

Shining musics...musics is plural because there is a plethora of different kinds and styles of music.
Glad that you enjoyed this.

I have no idea, Amal, but I can guess that in all likelihood they would keep themselves concealed, as we are extremely dangerous, and prone to warfare.

Glad you liked my poem, Amal.

The noise, the music, the words,
the babble, babble, babble of the human animal,
the birds, the storms, the rivers,
all makes a sound that carries on forever
we are told,
to infinity,
or to the space we see with telescopes and probes.

What God or Devil hears its din,
does anyone?
And how do they sort it out,
or is it all so mixed that it is one sound continuous?
I wonder.
Its as terrifying as Hell itself
as described by the poets who wrote the Bible.

The same applies to light,
the lights of cities carries on
light years
on and on,
and where does it arrive
or does it ever arrive?
Perhaps they are the blinding flashes
seen to take place when
two heavenly bodies meet!!

And we shall never know,
it is all too far away.

I see, you have *kicked it up a notch* since Neopoet crashed.

However, your chariot did not crash, if you know what I mean.

p.s. afaik, music is already plural however, musics would not be incorrect.

Kicked it up a notch?
I don't know about that, I just want Neopoet back upon its virtual feet again, lol.
My chariot hasn't crashed, so perhaps I'll whip these poetic horses further into foaming frenzy, heehee.

Thanks Anna.
