The Tendencies of Man

Why do we have to kill,
Why do we have to fight,
Why do we have to climb that hill,
And yet never see the light,
For power land or oil,
We fight for a selfish need,
We subjugate ourselves to toil,
And we do so without heed,
Without heed of the past,
Or what future our battles might bring,
We kill our brothers with a blast,
We men are wretched things.

Editing stage:

How true that last line is, i like this poem. But i think it could be better, maybe it needs to be clipped a little, be more punchy. For example
Do we have to kill,
should we even fight.
Why climb that bloody hill
ignoring what's right.

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.
