Strings

Strings of steel
The melody flows through my fingers
Vibrating through the hollowed wood
Entrancing and capturing

Messing with notes and phrases
Eyes closed and following naturally
Creating blissful escape
Brushing the well-worn strings

The world seems to halt in moments like these
A wave of peace and tranquillity in my soul
The strength of music - unparalleled
Just listening and strumming

That’s a space I could and have lived in for days.

I love this from a personal perspective

that there are so many musical sounding pieces in the last two or three days! It almost seems that there is a symphony rehearsing, and everyone is about to burst into song. I kind of feel like just before the opening of a musical score when the instruments are tuning up, a bunch of singular notes playing and then joining together in one great long-drawn-out note.
Anyway, your title is good, your language is superb in conveying the images and I really like the theme. Very nice!

Hello!
I can actually feel the peace this poem brings - eyes closed, strumming. A rejuvenating, yet calming experience through your words.
Thank you,

my Guess: Cello, or Bass

The advent of steel strings for guitar created the blues. Guitars had gut strings like other string instruments until the 20th century. Guitar necks are reinforced with an adjustable steel or graphite truss rod to counteract the tension of the steel strings. This was not needed previously. These new steel string guitars were much louder. Piano also have steel strings as do bass guitars, banjos, mandolins. I’m not sure modern cellos have steel strings.

Part of my guess….

“The cello, or classically the “violoncello,” is the largest member of the violin family, or the second largest if one counts the double bass. Cellos are tuned one octave lower than the viola, to C, G, D & A. Cello strings were commonly made of gut until the twentieth century, when advances in plastics technology enabled string makers to use nylon instead of gut. Modern cello string sets have either steel or nylon cores wound with one of several materials. These include aluminum, chrome, nickel, silver, titanium and tungsten. Each of these different materials produces a different quality of tone. One is not necessarily better than the other; each individual cello may sound best with slightly different cello strings.”

I actually don't play the bass or cello, I play guitar (semi-acoustic/acoustic). It is given away by the descriptions of "strumming" the instrument as you either bow or pluck a cello and only pluck for bass. I did used to play the viola, but that was a couple years ago. All good though
