Soon I'll Sleep Again

Soon I’ll sleep again,
And I will feel no pain,
For a little time,
Peace will be all mine,
My mind will seek
Freedom from the past,
And I’ll be carefree,
Although it will not last.

'Soon, I’ll Sleep Again' dates from early 2017, and while it accurately reflects my state of mind at the time of its original creation, my mood ultimately lifted.

Freedom from the past, this will apply to all. Accepting the stuff and to be able to live with it is a healthy way to be. Good thoughts Sir.

Thank you...Teddy

I don't know anyone who doesn't seek freedom from their past in some way.

Thank you...Teddy

that Teddy was speaking of the bad things in our pasts; not our whole past. If that were true, we would all be walking around in a constant state of amnesia. Not knowing where we are or how we got here. But, I do understand about how some things are too painful to keep at the forefront of our mind. As "Old Blue Eyes" said; "Regrets, I've had a few." So have we all, is what I think Teddy was saying. Yes, sleep is a mighty healer and we can forget, for a time. Thank whatever, for that. I heard this loud and clear. ~ Geez.

Yes of course only the stuff we don't like, or can't change for the better, forgive me if it didn't sound like that.
I like this poem so much because it's real and speaks to the reader. Sorry Carl if it didn't come off like that.

Thank you...Teddy

I understand, of course, and thank you for saying you like it. It's fine, truly. Carl.
