Simply gifted

Simply gifted…

What gift would you give,
a man hungering to a death.
Would food be enough,
as he finally sucks breath.

And after its given,
proudly you’d stand tall.
Or can you consider,
that its not a gift at all.

To wet the lips of a child,
who’s dying of thirst.
May salve your conscience,
but you wont be the first.

Does that water wash
a single stain of guilt.
Truly we must avoid,
defence, so tardily built.

We know simple condemnation,
wont stop the killing, or rape.
Calling them the crimes of animals,
gifted words we use to shape

I believe the gift to give,
is best given to the strong.
If they could feel as victims,
they’d end it, knowing, wrong.

We're so guilty at giving the wrong gifts.

Assuage guilt. Most of us live for that, that's exactly why nothing changes but our moments of guilt. Good subject, rarely given its just due.
