Remembered Loves...

Vignettes of lover's arms and lips
born from long ago
I'm firmly in the today
but I wanted them to know

You gave me nights of passion
light in days of sorrow
You taught me how to love
to think about tomorrow

So now that I have brought you
all to fore of mind
The ones that still live on
I hope don't think of me unkind

Because, no matter how we parted
there are memories sweet
I choose to remember them
instead of pictures of defeat

Hi, Geezer,
This is endearing. As we get older, we look back on long ago loves with a more honest, and softer perspective. Those were the days of crazy passion and whim, but time renders the memories to be tender and (kinda) innocent. Sweet memories are much better than pictures of defeat! Nice analogy!
Thank you!

hold a grudge forever! They tend to forget the things that brought them together with their exes. They seem to obsess with the
bad things. Maybe that is the way they "get over them." I think you are right, maybe it seems better, the longer ago it was.

In life all we left is the memories of what used to be and yearn for the timid tenderness of love .

Hlm life without literature is a life without logic.

is the way I would describe my first, but most of mine were flat out all-in massacres of the heart! I fell hard each and every time! I just didn't realize that the other person had wants and needs too! Thanks for the read and comments. ~ Geez.

A tender, reflective piece, Poetry.
Slightly marred for me by a seemingly weak final stanza.
(I have no suggestions, yer on yer own!)

Redolent of Edna St. Vincent Millay,
and her “What Lips My Lips Have Kissed",
So, well done.

Obi.

I went to look up Edna St. Vincent Millay and I do see a slight resemblance, [I could not hope to be half so good] I must add her works to my need to reads. An amazing poetess, [although I think she would eschew the word poetess!] I will have added
another layer of poet and authors to the mix of writers that have influenced me. Thank you for the kind words and her addition.
