Red, White, and Blue

Shipped away
To save the day
Not sure where they're sending me

Look left, look right
I'll have my brothers' back tonight

Jumping into darkness
All we see is black
The enemy thinking it's time to attack

Take me back to your face
I want out of this place.

The blood, the sweat, the tears
It'll all be worth it when we leave here
I'm coming back to you

I love this it's interesting, it carries the whole feel of leaving for war and the hope of coming home... It a nice one

Appealing theme, Emily. I agree, the military give their lives for us. Your poem is a nice tribute to them. Title, content and spacing all good.
Tx for sharing, Gracy

"My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies; fairy tales of yesterday will grow but never die, I can fly, my friends.” – Freddie Mercury

We go off to our wars and come home stronger.
Through the darkness and back into the light.
We are the children who know it, yes?
As we walk through the valley of the shadow of death we fear no evil..
I love what this poetry stands for.
Whatever the fight, give it all your might!

Keep them coming,

If you take the time to read a poem then take the time to let the author know you were there. Study it and form an opinion as well, even if it means going back to it more than once. That is basic critique, what Neopoet is all about.
