PUPPETS. BIRDS AND OTHER THINGS

I am a puppet on a string
a bird with a broken wing
floundering.
I can't dance or sing
with grace and dignity
as I used to. do.
But you will hear my truth
ring out in words golden. clear
and if you look carefully
you may see me standing there
for my heart and soul I bare.
