orphan train

who will help the children
aboard the orphan train
some of them may never
see their siblings again

who will help the children
to start their life anew
who will show compassion
for the unadopted few

who will help the children
once aboard the orphan train
to find the ones who loved them
and help alleviate their pain

if this is about the South American immigrants and the children that have been separated from their parents? I like the story, and the I wish that you had elaborated on the theme. I think that many who read this will want some kind of closure. Something that tells us that these children will not be abandoned altogether. Maybe that is your intent? To get people wondering about these children and wanting to do something about them? ~ Geezer.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

Yes, that was what my poem was based on. It was a heart-breaking situation in which many of the orphans could not get taken in or adopted. No one knows what happened to them from what I have been able to find out. Thank you so much for your wonderful response.

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my poem. Your thoughts have certainly given me some things to ponder.

This is a good question posed about All children who go unadopted. As to the ones separated at the border , I think we are doing all we can to be certain they are returned to their real parents. In some cases these actually Are those who crossed the border with them and the reunion comes quickly. The tragic thing is a great percentage of these kids are rented out by cartels to people who use them to gain entry here. DNA tests have proven this happens a Lot. And this makes it very difficult to find their real parents since they are often not here. What Can we do with these poor children? We can't turn them back over to fake parents. We can't just boot them back across the border. So I see no other option but to keep them as orphans until their parents are found or until they turn 18............a sad state of affairs. BTW, I like your using a train as metaphor as well as the rhyme and flow

Good to see you. I rarely post and don't spend
the time here we use to ... glad to see you.

I thought you pretty much said the same thing
in all your verses but then I thought, yes, for the
majority of orphans, the lonely is a whooshing
train ride (thanks for the images) ...
enjoyed the read
