October (Contest)

As the weather cools so do I
Another Autumn before I die
You may say I sound so sad
But no inside, I am really, glad.

I look out my window today
The mountain ash has changed its sway
Red berries from the original green
Brown leaves on the boughs are seen

The air is fresher now near to cold,
Put on another coat so I am told
The children on their way to school
Move faster as the air is quite cool.

The best of all this time of year
Is the sunrises and sunsets so clear.
The colours make a beauty so bold.
It’s not so bad this growing old.

Your theme is one we all think about as we get older.
The pattern is a tiny bit bumpy, but not bad for someone who doesn't rhyme much! The beginning and the end are brought together pretty nicely. ~ Gee.

I have been smiling a lot lately, Ian.
I wonder if the wind changes at all over there?
Here in New England it changes from south to north over to west to east. It is stronger as well. Great for Autumn sailing. The sunlight is different as well. Less shade makes for very bright days and sound carries further than usual.
Those things never change but so far as us .. well you put it nicely.
A fun poem and the rhyme makes it even more so.

Carry on,

~Mark~

Thanks for your visit, I reckon that's why they called where you are New England
as it sounds like here where the weather changes from day to day.
I have a theory that due to these conditions in the temperate zones of the world,
Each day there is something different, which makes the brain more active and a hive of inventions lol..
Go well young Englander, Yours Ian
