nosegay

from freshly turned soil
nostalgia drifts
a raw sweet aroma
born of the season's virgin breath

space billows
reveals a stage
the light of my past beckons softly
and I return to a scene
that count has concealed

shadows shimmer in deep eddies
melodious tones
of times now long gone
fresh paint, new carpet
pristine polished timber -
the feel, the comfort of my very first home

there
in the dulcet frangipani of my mind
echo sounds
of youth
untarnished laughter
and shades drift past
spry, vibrant
alive

and I taste
bitter-sweet
unstained innocence
that is
prior to great learning
.

A lovely Memory of the frangipani's I had in my garden in Africa, I use to love all the Velvet red colours of flowers and I managed to find a frangipani that colour on a trip toward the East Coast of South Africa.
They had a perfume all of their own, and to make a bouquet of them, all you needed was one flower head as it was beautifully symmetrical.
I hope that you have seen this plant somewhere, your write contains the essence of the Nosegay, and is Memorable, Yours Ian.T

There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

i think we have the velvet frangipani in australia - not sure if it is the same one you are talking about, as it isn't that big...

I thought I have understood the subtext of this poem dear Judy.
I first thought it is a bouquet of roses , each rose is a different experience
of your past . I even enjoyed sharing the aroma of the first drops of rain when they kiss
the thirsty land which make it a quite memorable experience and therefore piece.

but then I don't know why I got the thought that I might have
misled my way to the heart of the poem .
Have I
and where am I ?hope not too far away.

you make of the write as you wish - it doesn't matter to me if you get a different reading to what i meant, just as long as you get something for yourself from it

but (lol) i do wonder where you get the rain from....

thank you for the lovely review

a beautiful set-up concluding in a magical moment.

don't you wish we could have moments like this on demand.

joyful, yet profound. (both the poem, and the described experience)

I don't know how this poem could be misread!... but what do I know.....

I like this one a lot

sincerely

Al

yes, i do wish we could have moments like this on demand. but then, they do leave one with a kind of sadness when over :(

This poem stirs memories, deep and profound. I love the ending lines:

and I taste
bitter-sweet
unstained innocence
that is
prior to great learning

p.s.

I'm wondering after you, as I haven't seen you for awhile. How are you?

love, Cat
