Mourning Regret

Regrets within my soul and mind
Makes the road forward hard to walk
The mountain ever so high above the clouds
Impossible to climb

Acceptance is knowing that the burden
Can now be blown away with the wind of change
And laid to rest in a quiet place

Letting go of what was, to look forward to what will be
We all have this within us

Forgiveness for myself and for others
Aware of what was, knowing that it’s too late
To turn back that deceitful clock that tricked me
Unable to travel back in time
To the moment before all changed forever

Ever strengthening my mind
To just let it all go
Mourning, for the final time

Saying goodbye with a gentle kiss
In the hope I will once again be able to love
... myself

Dear Teddy, enjoyed your poem. As usual, my only nit is the length of the verses. It's also sort of preachy. Sorry! I agree with all the content and the title is perfect.
Will return, best, Gracy

And there i thought it was hopeful wisdom!, thank you for your kind visit. it's a brand new poem, i am sure it can be improved, i'm not a boring school teacher I promise (HUGS)

I hope it sounds better now I have used it in the first person. " Thank You" for your words that have helped me find this one.

Thank you...Teddy

I think you have sown the seeds for an excellent poem, one that in its present form all ready made me think where I had failed my loved ones. Searching for forgiveness? What's done is done, and all one can do is learn from past mistakes; that promise made to oneself often leads to atonement for past errors. I like your poem's theme, one that I will continue to ponder. Thank you. Jerry

Hello my dear friend. Yes it's something within us to search, but don't search too hard my friend, this was purely a bit of inspiration from a poem i read here the other day called "This place of near-incessant Mourning, by Carl Halling.

i cant imagine you having to think of all you regret sir, i believe you to be a kind and gentle if not eccentric at times gentleman ( take as a compliment) Actually we could agree that its not my usual sort of poem and i'm actually very happy that i stretched my pen hand on this. Thank you so much.

Thank you...Teddy

One regret that I could think of all ready, would be my failure to scrutinize your lovely poetry in the past; this I must keep in mind and rectify in the near future. I must congratulate you for being brave enough to pursue that for you new genre you spoke of. That's wonderful, dear lady.
Yours, (eccentric) Jerry

Ever since I finally learned how to cut and paste I have given all my ideas in the form of the entire poem with changes inserted. I assume your poem is about regret directed toward somebody who has passed. S o here goes :

Regrets within my soul and mind
Makes the road forward hard to walk
Over the mountain ever so high above the clouds
appearing impossible to climb.

Acceptance is knowing that the burden
Can now be blown away with the wind of change
and laid to rest in a quiet place

Letting go of what was, to look forward to what will be
We all have this within us

Forgiveness for myself and for others
Aware of what was, knowing that it’s too late
To turn back that deceitful clock that tricked me
Unable to travel back in time
To the moment before all changed forever

Ever strengthening my mind
to just let it all go
Mourning for the final time

Saying goodbye with a gentle kiss
In the hope I will once again be able to love
... myself

Well these are some ideas you can smoke over. You know i seldom give this many options if I don't think a poem has a lot of potential. Tell the better half hello

I cannot thank you enough. I am honoured that you find this worthy of editing. I will Definately look over this and thank you so much for taking time to give me your thoughts. I'm on the coast for a few days. As soon as I get to my laptop I shall see it all better.

Thank you...Teddy
