minute strands of joy

I watch
as life starts to leave
me behind

Each day
unfolds its neverending
glory, little by little
youth is another creature
ravenous its hunger
consumes everything

The minute joys
encapsulated in each day
should be savoured
taken in small bites
and rolled around your mouth

Life is passing me by
but I sit here holding
ribbons of life
stroking them through
my hands
each beautiful strand
Is a moment of joy ....

Life can never pass you by, you have many things still to do.
We live, we meet, we part, then each of us have given so much to each other in just passing.
I will be there to hold the door open for you, this you will know, is as I have always been.
For you to sit and let the ribbons flow, that you hold them and know them is an instant just for you..
I shall have to bring in the Great Bear, and the talks we had, about all things now and later for you to read in the quiet of your mind.
Take care young lady, it is time to write for each other, I am gathering things that are true to my mind, as this is really what life is about..
Yours Ian.T

I look forward to your news, it mattered not if you replied to the messages I sent to you over the last few months, the children told me that they had been read and used..
Your write above the last but one line I am being picky but is there a need to start it with In ????
In each beautiful strand
Is a moment of joy ....
It seems just as powerful without the IN:-
Each beautiful strand
Is a moment of joy ....
Told you I was being picky the piece is lovely, Yours Ian.T

Waco lives far enough away that we only get a dose of grandchild once a week..........he's not quit old enough to spoil yet but he gets all the love he can handle lol.
As to needing the bumpy people....I recall a curse I heard once "may you live in interesting times"..I would welcome a bit more boredom lmao................stan

They are never too little to spoil, being spoiled with love now thats a true gift :)

We are certainly living in interesting times, though I can do without the boredom lol

And if one appreciates the flavour of one's food, savouring every single mouthful, one doesn't get overweight, that is equally worth enjoying, using the best one can afford, we celebrate every day, that we are alive, E, at 87, has more urgency than myself, but we try to enjoy all, each moment, changing, always changing. I like the way you make youth eating up our youth, but i don't feel like that

Second look love Ann.

My Dad is 84 this year and I fully appreciate what your saying, time has its own meaning Dad still goes out to meetings for Lions club etc he still enjoys walking on the beach and going to gym,but he gets more tired these days and has a nap when he needs one, I hope if I live to be his age that I can be as active as he is now, even though hes sick he still lives life to its full

I cant believe how time has just flown seems like we talked about E another life ago and he was only dads age time stands still for no man or woman

The last stanza of your poem is lovely, however, the rest of it is already been said, A couple of tighter verses would suffice, I think. Remove unnecessary, redundant words, JC and you have a *re*fined version of your own poem, in your own words.

Hugs. How's life? The kids? School? Singing? Your other half?

~Anna

As I said above I plan to do a small edit of this one I know some of its been said before but Iike this one it does need trimming and I will get to it now I am back from a small break away:)

The idea that youth devours old age, is fascinating,
coming back our experiences to disguise themselves,
our needs more desperate, we become devoured by them.
A little creepy too though! Jayne.

Love to you there out in the wonderfully varied Australia,
where the people of the past come to change the ones
of the present, perhaps in the same manner, but only
because of the ignominious manner in which they
treated or even tried to integrate with those peoples.

I think perhaps looking back on what I have written here,
that we should be more lenient with our old selves,
that were the young selves, and try to harmonise
ourselves with ourselves...perhaps?

O what a lot out of that, Love to you anyway Jayne Chloe,
from little Ann.

"The image of yourself which you see in a mirror Is dead,
but the reflection of the moon on water, lives." Kenzan.

we should be more lenient with our old selves diving into the past is sometimes not a productive exercise it can at times bring back immense pain and sometimes shame, making something of the present, our now, is what like is about, we cannot go back we can only look forward and in doing that sometimes a measure of peace is found, you have me rambling nice to see you here again

my love to you dear Ann, Jayne-Chloe xxx

There is an old superstition that you must not let a child lay alongside an old person.
It was either that the old one would steal the energy from the child which I think is the right one.
Or that the child would steal the energy from the older person.
Anne here from the Midlands of England and hasn't heard of it yet me being from the South use to be told these things.
So many what we called old wives tales probably date back to the Caves,
You all take care out there, Yours Ian.T

Its funny I remember a superstition similiar to the one you speak of so it must have started in the uk and then they brought it over here when australia was settled

I am very tired this evening its been a huge day

I plan to see if you have anything new posted

Such interesting comments Jayne-Chloe and Ian,
it's always fun when thoughts are shared here isn't it.

Love to you both, both in totally different environments.
And me in mine Ann.

its a modern miracle that we can from all the corners of the planet share our ideas our superstition and our respective histories

I had started writing the North American Indian Myths in a sort of prose or poetry who knows which it is.
There are many tales that can be taught to our children in poetry or prose from the old days (That's when I was young) lol
The old nursery rhymes can be modernised by us or just written as poetry
The old songs like ring a ring of roses that the children use to sing.
At the moment we have an outbreak of Measles, I think there is due a song about MMR injections, to teach the idiots that let their children down by not getting them vaccinated, or a poem telling of the bad things that happen to young ones that become ill..
There are many outlets for our writing, as Ann wrote about the water dragon from her homeland, there are mnay Dream Times from Aussie to be renewed. These excursions are great to read about, is this lateral thinking ???
Yours as always Ian.T

I cant wait to read your poems on indian lore I look forward to it, and I fully agree with you about vaccinations parents that fail to immunise their child are putting them in great danger,

My second son Jacob ? had all his neddles but still got sick with a rare virus called Epiglottitis which his neddles should have covered, in a few hours he went from being a healthy 3 yr old to being dangerously sick they had to put him into a coma, I still get sick to the stomach thinking about how close we came to losing him

a link for anyone that hasnt heard of epiglottitis
