Minneapolis

What hope
of heaven
here on
earth?

Our streets
are secreting
bile from
hell.

but heaven is here only
where do you think
else wise it is

we ourselves
spoil our streets

Your poem pretty much sums this up with just a few words

Thank you for reading, Scribbler.

Hello, yes, your poem pretty much sums it up. Hell on earth. Sad. Having said that, I think there's more to say in a poem, tho' I myself shall not write about it. It's too horrible and all over the news. I will certainly join a peaceful protest, but there don't seem to be any.
All the best, Gracy

I, too, hope the peaceful protests and positive reinforcements emerge and thrive.
Thank you so much for reading.

to another recently. There are many here in the U.S. that are great people and work for the betterment of the people.
It is mostly those who are lawless and violent that make the headlines, for the sensationalism and shock effects. We have had peaceful protests here in my city, without any kind of violence and the police have joined their voices with the protesters in decrying the violence. That is what we are capable of! Let's try to spread the message of peace to the rest of the country! ~ Geezer.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

This poem has actually been on the back burner awhile. The events in Minneapolis defined it and brought it to its condensed version. I wrote it to reflect a shocking reaction to the chaos on our streets, be it caused by corrupt law enforcement, politicians, or opportunists. The injustice on our streets, which has been there for generations, has been far from peaceful and acceptable. Far from whom most of us truly are, and what we represent. Last night our city had its first peaceful protest - our citizens bringing their best. It was glorious! I've seen pictures and news of other cities experiencing the same. I hope the world sees it, too. It has been horrifying, but the competent are surfacing and spreading calmness and love. I have hope for peace. I pray that the world sees that we are appalled, and this is not who we are, that we are better and we are messengers of peace.
Thank you, Geezer,
