JUST A LITTLE LETTER TO YOU

JUST A LITTLE LETTER TO YOU.
M.Ann Waddicor. 1st February 2012.

Little letter, like a snowflake
tossed in the sky,
coming to rest on your doorstep.

Each snowflake a perfection all its own,
flown from the damp of winter skies,
frozen in flight to crystal shapes,
as cold as stone to hands of man.

Joining the mass of white wet glinting piles
on forest, field, and brook,
or on the paths frequented by yourself,
such silent stealth, and yet they make their sound.

Afforded praise from every child,
so mildly touched, the face, the cheek,
where melts its message, weak,
that hours have crafted in the wake of frosts.

Thin slivered note of fairy tales, no words,
preciously wrapped in secret swords of pastel colours,
when meeting ice, each slice,
a slice of love on feathery wings.

Grown in the night, its memories of spring,
with flowers like stars that decorate the meadows,
these sisters silvered glinting in the night,
make shadowed places shine with light.

An enchanting write! Winter can be a wonderland to behold! Unfortunately we are having a very mild winter without much snow or frost. But I remember how the beauty of a soft white blanket of snow covers everything in sight. I also love the patterns of frost leaving lace on my window pane. Favorite lines:

Afforded praise from every child,
so mildly touched, the face, the cheek,
where melts its message, weak,
that hours have crafted in the wake of frosts.

always, Cat
