In Inferno con te

‘Twas once, I the muse be

In such times without clarity

I, was your flame

you were my air

at your words I could but stare

I, the fire you fused

alas you could never choose

for I,

The secret in the gardens of your paradise

Awaiting our judgment never,

in inferno eternally we are together…

Title " in hell with you" So I just love the friendship between Dante and Bea, I wrote this and showed to an Italian friend who then pointed out it was Paolo and Francesca however I, in my heart believe it was Dante and bea! He loved his wife very much and is clear in his work but Bea was his true muse.

and far away, in an age long ago,, in my youth, I read Dante. Maybe that was where my macabre sense of comedy was born.
I would have taken this for Dante. ~ Geezer.

We studied Dante and the Inferno in high school, and that may have also been the last time I seriously thought about it. I do recall questions leading to more extensive questions. And this is what your poem does for me. I would need to go diving into Google to make a choice about Dante and Bea vs Paolo and Francesca - and I probably will! A part of the poem that also makes me think a little harder is the relationship between the flame and air - very different reasons to need each other. I could get lost in there for days!
Thank you!

And thank you for such a wonderful review. I adore Dante and just find even after reading a few words of his work. Just makes me want to write. So very delighted you have enjoyed this
