Indictment Of A Passive People (Pt.1)

The words that will leave my mouth I dear say
May not be what you want to hear
But now is not the time to cast your bait and hook
Hoping that you will catch a fish in time for lunch
The time when you could have relied on hope:
When time was on your side – when you could have
Afforded to take aim and miss – that time is long gone!
But since you are blinded by your self-delusion
That your present state could only be worst not better
That your standard of life is the way it should be
You have unconditionally resigned from
The struggle to true freedom!
No doubt this is brought about by your
Your selfishness and obsessive pastime of looking within
For answers only found without!
For this is where the reality of your existence exist
Alongside that of your brothers and sisters
Their pain, their ache and their suffering!
Yet you dive headfirst in this pretentious sanctuary
Cocooning yourself with a vain imagination of the
Real possibility of a ready-made better world
With all the material possessions and contentment you always dreamt of
And that they will somehow materialize in front of you
And be-stored upon you at the pleasure of self-appointed earthly gods –
those so-called creators of wealth -
As your reward for not causing any social ripples!
Your while will be of greater worth you stiff-necked fool
If you take a look at the hegemonic contract you have signed;
That it is by intent, by design
A mechanism through which you have ignorantly volunteered
Your-self to be the “fall out” of progress!
Yes a willing sacrifice to perpetuate the creation of wealth
Which some way, somehow find its way to the hands of Fannie and Mae -
They have a limitless fondness of it!
So continuously you are reminded of the ancient promise
That your inheritance is not the world today;
But that it is of the one of tomorrow;
And that you should willingly render your earthly possessions
For the maintenance of these afflicted souls: Freddy and Mac!
I don’t think you have a choice anyway
They have a way of feeling free to helping themselves
To your most secret and fortified stash!
So in any case they will get to your pot and
You will forfeit what you have worked for!
You see they have an insatiable appetite!
And when you’re up against this how could you
not end up a derelict on the scrap heap of history?

Your title is right on! This rant reminds me very much of a letter I just wrote to my Sister. She is one of those who feels the world owes her something just by her very existance. She is very much a material woman. A good write with good language skills brought into play. favorite lines:

So continuously you are reminded of the ancient promise
That your inheritance is not the world today;
But that it is of the one of tomorrow;

always, Cat
