I wish

I wish I had
x-ray eyes
to see straight
through the
best disguise

I wish I had a heart
of steel--
you can't hurt if
you don't

I wish my soul was
dark not light
maybe then I'd

I wish my nature

I wish my skin

I like the poem and the flow. I think the short lines really help with that. I like the forgiving you - don't change your beautiful heart!

There is a lot to like about this. Your candor and the simplicity with which you express yourself are refreshing. Some of us (speaking only of me, actually) get so caught up in the tangle of form or the ever dreaded 'clever' that our meaning somehow is diluted in the mix. You said it all and it's out there free. I do agree with Beau, however. The thing that has given me the most ability to heal has been a tight grip on forgiveness of those who hurt me. I don't know who it was that once told me: "resentment is a poison you drink to kill someone else". I've found this true in my life.

Thanks Jaq, hope to read more from you soon!
