The Forest My Friend and I

Shades of
and gray.
Trees and granite
leaves and moss.

blueberry, fern
and saplings.

Each oak grows
in its own direction
with naked branches,
some with bright green
new leaf buds.

Pine all sizes
grow straight.

Granite boulders
are moss covered
and scattered all over.

There are trails,
and if complete
there may be a marsh
with a meandering stream.

It will be weeks
before the color
of wildflowers
and berries.

Wind comes up
and old things
start to fall
while new things
begin to breathe.

I have a friend who feels gray
and I wish that I could bring her through
the forest today,
to take in some fresh air.

with someone who cares, can be just what the doctor ordered. It doesn't have to be a trek, just an outdoor episode. Sunshine full of vitamin D and freshened air. Your description of the forest makes me want to get out and enjoy the Spring air. Many times, I have been in that place that you describe, drinking in the cool air and the sight of the forest awakening from its' long winter's sleep has filled my eyes with the soothing view. Thanks for the vision. ~ Geez.

not a good match for most everyone. How about
if everyone just shows up at the door, whenever
they have a few free minutes?
