Flight Of Fancy

FLIGHT OF FANCY

Having flown just once in a glider
It made my perspective even wider
I then wanted to end up flying a jet
Not as a passenger, but a pilot yet
Interviewed by the RAF and so keen
The week ended with the best I’d been
And being blessed with 2020 vision
Just aching for their positive decision
But in the end, I was just a bit too old
And rather than be left out in the cold
I tried the Navy and Army Corps too
And by reason of my age, I wouldn’t do
But since, it’s only been flight simulators
All the skills for which software caters
Perhaps in my dreams I might still fly
With my own two wings, up in the sky

I can relate to this piece. Even though I am somewhat afraid of heights, especially those involving roller coasters and the like, I am fascinated with flying, gliding, parasailing - soaring. I envy anyone / anything with a view of the world from above. Glorious! I'm sorry you haven't been able to fulfill this longing, YET.
Hopefully some day, some how, you will. Good rhythm and rhyme.
Thank you!
