The Fishing Trip
Just as an ocean
Can swallow an entire ship
I beg to differ
If the ship could be digested?
Finally being
Spat out onto the lonely waves
like a chicken's bone
Left to ponder the calm sea
Until
Finally reaching the shore
Of lost time?

Dear Teddy
I like the images immensely though it left me a bit fighting the waves. Not sure what I have missed.
Did you mean a chicken's bone stanza 2 line 3?

Dear Rula
Hello dear friend, I'm just having fun with words, you haven't missed a thing, it is up to the reader to interpret the meaning. Thank you for the typo. X

I'm not sure...
what to take away from this. I can't reconcile a ship being swallowed, but then being spat up like chicken bones, usually they just lie there at the bottom of the sea and slowly disintergrate. I feel a certain sort of melancholy at the thought of pondering a calm sea and raching the shore of lost time. ~ Geez.

Dear Geezer
I'm just warming up for my winning poem for January (giggles)
I will be honest and say this just came out, I don't know what it means but I shall leave it here to ponder over. As much as I love planned poems I also adore the suprise of unplanned work and today my friend this is one of those. I just want to see where it could go. Probably nowhere. Thank you as always for leaving your fab thoughts
Could well have something to do with Brexit.
Thank you...Teddy

Nice piece. It takes me back to my favorite little river, where as children we swam to exhaustion. Thanks for the piece.
Bathe yourself with poetry and let the world go to pieces.

Dear Teddy,
Okay, so I see so many meanings in here, and I love all of them, whether they were intended or not! XD I actually adore the imagery of how you took the ocean "swallowing" a ship so literally. It reminds me of the scene in Pirates of the Caribbean where they had to turn the ship upside down to reach the mythical shores on the other side of the ocean.
Amazing job!
