Escape From a Trait-Jacket

Love learns to forgive
friends learn "quick!", to smile,

pain will recall
every step of each mile;

betrayals hold grudges,
as each memory protects;

difficult tasks teach temperance,
while melancholy reflects.

Sincerity sounds truthful,
prepared leaders must leave;

the successful adopt, joy!
While the lonely must grieve;

Honesty can turn gullible,
lust and passion feels right;

grace showers with blessings,
where anger tries to ignite!

Tomorrow may bring surprises,
while today morphs right, past;

then the past, becomes history
so each legacy can last.

We know the meek shall inherit
while folly makes a bet,

the greedy will accumulate,
and then, deserve what they get!

While faith moves her mountains,
charity will prevail;

winners will keep winning,
but, dignity will turn frail.

The suspicious will cast doubts,
the impatient may shove;

integrity is very close,
but the greatest is, love!

What did you think of my title?

How was the beginning/ending of the poem?

A grand play on words and had me going there and then I realised what you were escaping from as the poem rolled effortlessly on, grand write,
Yours Ian

There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

...I think that I ALWAYS tend to, more or less; play with words, ya know? I thank-you for being gracious enough to feel the urge to comment.
Thanx, for that.
Sincerely,
doc.
