Of Enigma

An Enigma -
Many came to ask me about death
hence-

WHEN we were younger
we asked elders

Why don't you want to die
why live so long
are you afraid

Now I am at that border of life
@nearing 80
I ask myself why should I die
I will never again come by

So now I terribly feel shy
not wanting to
say good bye

that it is just part of our survival instinct. Some of us are afraid to die, maybe all of us. I have known of many who say that they are not afraid to die, but when it comes, there are few that really aren't afraid. Maybe those that aren't afraid, are those that have a deep belief that they will somehow go on, even if it is in another form. Spirit, to heaven or maybe resurrection in some way. We don't know, we think we have it figured out, but we really don't know. I think that that is the real deal, we just don't know. ~ Gee.

you will know what all life is about here
all else is conjecture
we are afraid to die owing to pain of the disease and docs treating as guinea pigs
If you accept euthanasia
you will relax , carry on with your sole soul theory or spirits
I am not going to with you my head split

but I think that you just made my argument for me! I think what you say at the end is: You are of two minds; you are not sure of what to believe. I understand about the thoughts of medicine and doctors, using us as guinea pigs. That's to be expected! Of course they do! Why not use the knowledge gained of making life good and bearable for those of us that wish to continue? As to keeping someone alive after they have no wish to keep going; I think it is wrong! I'm glad that we have programs that let people have the choice of how long they want to be kept alive. My mother has been in a nursing home for the last six years; she recently told me and a sister that she just doesn't want to keep going. She is ninety-three and has had enough! She cannot walk, she is in pain, even with her meds [they can't give her any stronger and not kill her]. She hates the food, her days are filled with watching T.V. and sitting in the sun, waiting for someone to visit. Don't get me wrong, she has plenty of company. My sister works there and stops in every night she works, for at least a little. I was there as recently as a week ago and there were several family members there.
She was very active and raised eight of us pretty much by herself. [Two alcoholic husbands] She worked hard in the factories and didn't stop working until she broke a hip at seventy-six! She is still sharp and knows what is going on. Now, she has stopped eating, won't take any meds except for the pain relievers and won't do her breathing treatments. What to do? Respect her wishes and let it be on her terms! ~ Gee.

the mind of humanity
GOD BLESS YOUR MOM
Till ones brain is functional
let the person smile
as long as......
