Do Not Resuscitate

Do not resuscitate
In the event that my heart stops
Let it happen
In the event that I stop breathing
Let it happen
In the event that I die
Do not take extreme measures
I don’t want them
Do not prolong the process
Let it happen
Don’t let machines be the only thing keeping me alive
When I’m gone
Let me go
I don’t wanna stay
Let my heart beat fade away
I’m tired
Pull the plug
I’m done fighting
Let me take my last breath
Let my heart beat its last
Truth is
I was gone before my heart beat was
Long before the pain in my chest
And my left arm went numb
Long before my mind starts to fade
And I can’t remember faces or names
Long before I grow frail and thin
And my hair starts to fall out
If my body is dying
Let my lungs give out
If my pulse is weak
And my future is bleak
Let me die
I am young
But I’m so done
Let me die
I was dead long before my body died

give the advice that so many people would, in the interest of saving your life. I will say that I felt remorse that someone who describes themselves as being young and feels like this, and they should get some psychological help and leave it at that. As to your poem; I got all the emotion that you put into it. This seems to be a message to someone rather than a poem. I would be pleased to see more work from you. ~ Geezer.
