a conversation with my dog

Can I be your dog,dog?
I will protect us on a jog, jog,
I will be your friend,
and embarrass you to no end.

I will be your dog, dog,
I will tangle your feet, for a spill,
as we roll down the hill,
I will bark to tell you off,
I will keep my hair nice and soft.

Can I be your dog, dog,
I will tangle your feet for a spill,
as we roll together down the hill,
I will bark at you to tell you off,
I will keep my hair nice and soft.

Can I be your dog, dog,
I will hump your leg,
just like, us male pigs,
and for no reason, it makes no sense,
but I really like fire hydrants.

Can I be your dog, dog,
I will hold you in your lows,
I will not tickle your toes,
we will play in the puddles and the mud,
yes, you are my best bud.

I will be your dog, dog,
we will tease the cat,
get our ears slapped,
and get in the way just to play,

I will be your dog, dog,
we will be cute for the chicks,
at night together, we will watch Netflix,
together we will pass the time,
in wild paint, and words that rhyme.

Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?
Last few words:
I luckily have been accepted to be my dog's, dog. This pooch has been through the good and the bad with me. I bought him at four weeks old. My last Westie died a month before I purchased him. He is fourteen years old and with a heavy heart, at the end of his journey. So I watch him very closely, But I was struck by the evidence before me. This dog would never leave me, not even for any of my ex's who have. He has truly been my best friend. This summer I found him to be pissing blood and I have not worked in three years so I have not been able to afford vet bills. I also have come to the realization that he is at the inevitable end of his journey, but just the same I am human and help not being my concern I am disheartened by these events. He has been to all of my poetry readings and even been to church with me. We go everywhere together and when we are separated he howls or sleeps at the front door waiting for me. I have never had such a loving and dedicated friend. I have had a writers block lately and won't be posting much in the near future but I hope you all keep posting your work and I am sure poetry will heal my soul. Thank you for your past postings.
