the color pink

I know it sounds crazy me the fat sister being used for her body
I have changed unsure for the better or worse
I've been bubbly about everything
My body is looking amazing i don't even care how i got it there
People have crushes on me that might not be a big deal to you but
To the little ‘“chubby girl” who never thought she was good enough
And dreamed of a pink velvet room and a husband who treated me right
And the little girl who thought i would end up just like my mother
I am starting to grow to believe i am worthy of the color pink

I really like the idea of pink being used as the vehicle to talk about issues related to what it means to be a woman of value. I would like to see it expanded to elaborate more on the dark side that is hinted at in a phrase like "I don't even care how I got it there." With the pink tax, the recent OMV! controversy, and so much more, there is a lot to say. I like the title. I don't know if it was meant to reference The Color Purple but the intersection of race and womanhood would be another welcome elaboration.

this was not a reference to the color purple but you got all of my references i was afraid no one would get the OMV one.
