Chasing the High (Revised)

On the day I was born
they made me cry
Now i shall weep
until the day i die

for i was born
in a world made for others
i'm not like them
no, not even my brothers

There's a line on the mirror
and smokin' bud in the vase
a fifth of whiskey on ice
to find that quiet place

but it just never seems
to be quite enough
i need to escape
i need to lose all touch

days go by...

...weeks go by

i'm in a chase
tryin' to catch that high

Now there's a mirror
a staring back at me
there's a vivid scene
i don't want to see

a knife across my wrist
just to watch myself bleed
a rope around my neck
to make sure i succeed

days go by...

...weeks go by

i'm in a chase
tryin' to catch that high

mother always told me
it would never come to this
yet there's a gun at my head
and a blade through my wrist

for i was born
in a world made for others
i'm not like them
no, not even my brothers

so from day to day
i try to hide myself
no want to be a specimen
in a jar on someone's shelf

read like Hans Christian Anderson.
I hope it was cathartic.
