Call Waiting...

The tiny light speeds on and on
Streaking away from our galaxy
In darkest space, far from dawn
Bringing news of you and me

Greetings and glad tidings too
Read my plaque, decipher it
Figuring out what to do
Wipe away the journey's grit

A message that was tossed in space
To far away and never
Now may you look upon our face
Our boldest venture ever

To find new life or is it old
Are we all alone?
We look about our universe cold
Waiting by the phone

What if the message comes too late
And we are not at home
What if we've met an untimely fate
While our messenger still roams?

We need to know, are we alone?
UFO's don't say
They just streak by, miss our comfort zone
So please call us today

He may be a flying, purple, people-eater! I've heard of those! If he starts to fly; just run or shove some food in his mouth!
LoL ~ Geez.

message still does roam
It makes for a smoother rhythm and is kind of cheating but it's what I would do - just sayin.
Cool poem.
Nice read for this AM

"They're not here, They're not coming"... off the "Inside Job" album, came out in 2000.

Love the concept of your piece.

One of life's great mysteries, is why we haven't heard from any other life forms, in our present generation? I do believe that they visit all the time. Maybe they avoid open contact, because they are scared of their crazy neighbors? After all, we aren't the friendliest folks. We regularly kill each other over some really stupid crap! [You looked at my girlfriend wrong, you stepped on my sneakers, I don't feel like working for a living and my all time favorite; I hate your politics!] Thanks for the read and comments. BTW I love that album! ~ Geez.

on MARS OUR INTELLIGENCE
No fu-king UFO- nor aliens
no one knows
stopped us or challenged us so
believe in me we alone exist
micro bacteria may in planets
which about the sun go

GEE ur brilliant
you ought to know
aliens and UFOS don't glow
lol
nor humans
BLOW we now all ought to know

they haven't tried to stop us, challenge us or say hello, doesn't mean that they aren't out there. Like I said, they are probably scared to death; that we will turn on them to take the heat from our world. I didn't say that aliens and/or UFO's glow, although
some people say they do. I was mentioning the probe Voyager. [I'm not sure that there is a light on that either]. Just a way to show that it is very far from us, all alone in deep space. How can you say; that in among all the stars and galaxies, there is no other life? Are you so egotistic, that you believe we are the only intelligent life? There are a billion-trillion stars and planets out there; just on that basis alone, there has to be something/someone else. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean that it isn't out there. ~ Geez.

leaves me a message about the probe, I have looked up the NASA index of probes and have since discovered that my memory was faulty and the ones that have the plaque are not Voyagers, but the two Pioneer probes, [both of which we have lost contact with, years ago.]
