The Bitch Within

There’s a Bitch within me
You don’t want to see
If you cross her path
She’ll unmask her wrath
And be on her game
While causing you shame

BUT
You won’t know ‘tis she
When your car hits a tree
So you’ll miss the dog
Running towards a groundhog

You do miss the dog
But hit the groundhog
And it ends up dead
While you’ve bashed your head

OR MAYBE
You’re walking along
Just singing a song
When you suddenly fall
Tripping over a ball
And then hit the ground
With no one around

You land in the street
Can’t get on your feet
It’s how you get struck
By an on coming truck
That drags you for miles
And the Bitch,
Just stands there and smiles!!!!

Once she’s had her fun
Her day’s over and done
So she’ll go back within
While wearing a grin
Knowing she can appear
When she wants to wreak fear!!!

loved x files....but like gotham the series on television..
original batman held back guys over the edge and let them
go..original comix...before he took off...low key and then
went major syndicate...

atwoods female characters are cunning too

the honed ego set by the time we are five
remains to protect us
by fifteen we are who we are mostly till
the day we pass

read tons of books..been through the pysch
institutions enough...met the all too real
insiders let out again and those that will
never be slow enough or too braggard
to get caught...the real world baby

know very beautiful ninjas
wearing their grins

when \i was in the nut house i read
books and they only had these female
fantasy books...historical settings
magic...much retribution..
a more wilder version of
that famous book by the dude who
gets out of prison finds the treasure
on elephant island and wreaks
his revenge

my charge...i instructed her not to
get physical with the bully bitches
who slapped the other girls about
held them up against the school
windows by the throat..
one was a big bitch too..
tough families..
one day my little five foot spinner
with heavy pack sack just drove
the tormentor into the locker in
passing in a busy hall...
no one liked the bullies
so crang into the lockers
right in front of her minions
might just add the five footer
hung out with the top males
bad boys and rich boys
why the bullies had an issue
they were not of the presentable
pedigree nor looks
all that blew over..bullies picked
on the weaker..as it is with society
and they even made chums kind
of later in life...they would go
through her check out...
cause....she understood them
both had the same background
violence....insanity..psychopathy
poverty and then wealth enough
spinner vaulted up
works for independent company
got a handsome miner man
with truck who spoils her...
got the requisite madness too
for excitement and similarity

bitch within...oh yah baby
harness it
team sled dog..barely just
tamed like that story \buck
by jack london
thats my women
actually worked for all
these types
why\\/
danger excitement
and beneath it all
a different kind of tenderness
even my mother didnt
quite hone....

could telll more stories
but not here.
suffice to say \i rolled
with the best...

love this poem\

tells it like it is....

i know that grin!

Used to love the original Batman. The TV show i mean (guess I'm dating myself)...it was corny as hell but he always got his point across to the 'bad guys &woman....cat woman, she was pretty cool and me thinks Batman had a crush on her but had to hide it.' Haven't seen any of the movies....don't have the desire. They take away, I think, from the what the TV show had to offer.
Took me a long time to realize i have a dark side, but once I did, I was happy to 'meet' her... have to inject humor though cos otherwise I start to get too dark and scare the hell out of myself...LOL!! It's been very cathartic for me being able to let it out in my writing. Funny though when it comes to actually watching shows and or movies that have a lot of violence, blood and or other dark stuff, i don't enjoy them and tend to avoid them.
i never dealt with any real bullies but then I lead a rather protective life thanks to my folks. They meant well by keeping me in a box so to speak, very protective, even when it came to physical activities like skateboarding, skying, anything that could be dangerous, and when that fear is implanted in your brain it sucks which is way i finally broke loose from it, to an extent, by skydiving....but u know about that.
so no female or male bullies that put people in lockers though I know they existed.
i did know some guys who were labeled the 'bad' guys and/or dangerous ones but i found them to be pretty decent for the most part. now if backed into a corner that's when their tough side would appear but since i never put them in that situation, no problems. and i gotta admit just knowing they had a reputation, did make them rather appealing in a way....i think a lot of girls/women get off on that 'bad guy' thing just as long as it doesn't effect them directly.
your little five foot spinner sounds like she had it going for her. didn't take shit from anyone and yet had the understanding of what the bullies were about....so yeah I can see where they all could end up relating to one another in the long run. and it sounds like she ended up ok.
have a character i created named 'Evil'...the alter ego of a woman who's been burned. one day may share some of the chaos she's enjoyed causing to get back at some deserving folks and in other cases, simply takes pleasure in her nasty ways. actually after having posted this i'm thinking if I ever start a series this 'Bitch' could become united with 'Evil'....it's just the Bitch came 1st and she ain't going anywhere and neither is Evil!
i should read more books but attention span isn't the best. i used to when kids were young and we'd travel a lot. great time to read. keep saying i'm gonna get back into it, just haven't had the real motivation and after being on this site and sites I've been on in the past, i do so much reading that i get burned out. But one of these days....well maybe.
Long story short,
i had a feeling you'd read and share your stories that it brought to mind. Thanks for proving me right...meant in a good way of course! Glad you loved the poem and yep I'm sure you know the grin....i was wearing it as I wrote the line...and it felt so good to write it....I could see 'her' just standing there feeling almost euphoric...LOL!!!

best wishes mr. wolf!

appeared in Detective Comics around about 1939, a year or so after Superman's debut in Action Comics. I was reading their adventures from the time I was around 9 years old in 1960. The Batman of early years was not the sanitized version that inhabited latter days.

I didn't realize that Adam West was doing Family Guy. A bit different from his Batman days, but I guess you do what ya gotta do.

I was alarmed too...but these guys love acting....Adam did the shows..post television for years
That funny wit he had with Batman he can do in Family Guy....The real batman on comix was
based more like the crow...why the villans are so deep and complex..Batman was just the same
Why Wests Character on the show was so interesting....But it was his voice..that slow pan and
yet non pedantic pace that was most illuminating....I bet if you ask him he loves doing Family
Guy...Adam West playing Adam West/ ha....and Batmobile....Berry's legendary car...or the
future machines....people love those...I got a friend...very well taught man..a doctor of sorts
makes oodles of money...no he didnt buy a bat mobile but...audis pretty close...mercedes..
not far off...anyway...loves batman...and..I grew up with adam and loved alfred...robin...
commisioner gorden and that chief of police..irish of course..catwoman...she was witty....do what u gotta do...ha ha...man i can see adam west agreeing with this....yes..even batman would approve..why us gen x's or after or before.rock...

villaness..
like modern take on
redemption
walking dead

little Lulu all growed up
with superpowers and a blade
and a desert eagle
strapped to her hip

wendy the good little witch
turned by the dark side
vigilanted out
scorned and broomless
riding a hog

a Resident Evil
meets pretty little liars..

but yah...
your poem
shes allright!

thank U!

Yep she's alright
not one bit up tight
does what she does
enjoys a good buzz
her evil within

I didn't realize Batman was around for so long. I did enjoy the tv shows, they were pretty silly but entertaining at the same time. The Batmobile was pretty cool.

Thanks for sharing.

I don't know why this isn't under Keith's comment. Tried switching it but with no luck so Keith I hope you see this!

he was not the gentle giant of tv fame who never actually hurt anyone. In fact he could be quite violent especially in the days before Robin came along.

Wow, I'm afraid to say anything now!!!

One thing I noticed, the tense ... you begin
in first person then change.

But don't hex me, please lol

enjoyed it!!!

Yep, I guess I do have this side of me but that's where writing comes in quite handy. By allowing 'Her' to express 'Her' self in words, 'She' doesn't have the need to act....LOL! Anyhow I think I saw what you mean about the tense, and thought that by changing the 'now' to 'once' it might help with that. If you've the time please let me know what you think. I appreciate your interest in my works and your comments are always constructive, so therefore even She appreciates your help and has no inclination as to having you 'dragged for miles!' I have to admit that last part gave me such pleasure to write and my visual of the scene was crystal clear....kind of an eerie feeling I must admit....LOL!!!!
Thanks again!

Er remind me not to ever cross you :-)
I think we all have the power to unleash her........................ some will never learn how to do so, some will do it for good and some, well some will use it in a bad way. I tend to have a glass of wine (or three) and chill, if I'm ever cross enough to use it in anger.
Although, I have had a few days recently, where it seems to have surfaced and i can feel the venom simmering. Better buy a lot of wine in then........

I think this is where writing has come in very handy....it allows me to vent harmlessly! I keep my dark side in check with my dark sense of humor and I have to say writing this gave me great pleasure...i was in 'one of those moods!' Anyhow, i do know what it feels like to have as you said, 'the venom simmering,' and 'tis those times i'd love to be the type to throw dishes or something, but then I'd have to clean up the mess so I simmer till i don't and/or i'll write something even if I end up throwing it out cos it sucks...at least it's not breakable...LOL!
Anyhow, thanks for sharing your understanding thoughts....what kind of wine?

"She" sounds exactly like my sister-in-law! I didn't know you met her, lol! at my wedding reception, she went around telling other guests a lot of trash about me. some things from my previous life, that I had confided in Steve. he relayed to her in trust :( they haven't spoken in many, many years because of it. I much enjoyed your evil poem!

You made me laugh asking f I know your sister-in-law!! NO! I don't know your sister-in-law and I'm thinking I'm lucky!! Fortunately my ex one lives in a different city so I didn't have to see her much. She and I got a long ok, is was strictly a superficial relationship but better than yours. Her husband's a complete jerk so I guess i kind of felt sorry for her. She and I were nothing a like....she was, and probably still is, caught up in the whole socialite thing. I haven't spoken with her since before Rich and I separated....and I'm more than fine with that!
Glad you enjoyed the read. I thought you might, cos of 'eddy styx.' I have to say, I had a lot of fun writing it....not sure if that's a good thing or not...LOL!

hugs my friend!

A very good write, have a thought about teaming up with someone like Esker and swap thoughts with other poets here and it will spread your learning and knowledge.
Your write here is more complex and long, I will look at other writes of yours and see what is happening,
Take care and know we are all here to learn,

Thanks lan for checking out my piece. Your comments are greatly appreciated, and will give your suggestion some thought. Writing has become a much needed outlet for me, as I'm sure it has for others.

If there is anything you need to ask I am always on Neopoet each day at around 9am and then again at 11pm each day so give me a nudge if you can't raise the others, writing as you say is a wonderful outlet for quite a few people,
I am one of the very lucky ones that can write at any time anywhere, I use to love going into the pubs in Ottawa and writing on the beermats there for the people around me, I still have a duplicate of some of them as I just wrote two of most.
But to learn poetry in the classic way or correct way you will need Jess or poets like him that have been trained in poetry..
Yours as always Ian..

I never studied poetry, well maybe in high school a little, but I simply started writing it on my own.
If someone asks who my favorite poets are, the only name that comes to mind is Dr. Suess....the man was a genius in so many ways!
When married, we entertained a lot and I always wrote our invitations in verse. For I have no clue at this point how many years, we'd have a New Year's Day open house and every year I managed to come up with a new poetic invite. I loved the challenge. People looked forward to both the invites and the open house so when we split, they felt lost having nothing to do on Jan. 1st...LOL! I thought I'd saved them but I guess they got lost in a move.
Anyhow, that didn't make me see myself as a 'poet.'
When I wrote, I did it for me and wasn't comfortable sharing till I got to be close friends with an executive chef who also was a poet. He'd read me his stuff and I have to say, it sounded good. I know it got him through the sadness when his son committed suicide at a young age. So, I got brave and started allowing him to see things I'd written. He became my mentor in a way. He always encouraged me and his critiques were always constructive.
I finally decided to join a different writer's website and that's when I started to take my writing more seriously. When people would ask, "what do you do?" It took awhile before I could feel comfortable saying. "I've been a stay at home mom, and I'm also a poet" Now I can say it and believe it...though kids are grown so the stay at home mom a part I leave that part out now....LOL!
I learned a lot on that site, different forms of poetry, how to tighten up my writing, that sort of thing. I don't write poems with deep seated meanings, metaphors, and so on....you can pretty much get what I'm saying right from the start and I'm ok with that. Some people don't see it that way, they don't consider me a true poet, but that's fine too. Each to their own, I've learned not to take things personally. On the other hand, I totally appreciate it when someone reads one of my writes and shares a constructive thought that could make it better!
Ok I've rambled on long enough!
Long story short, lan, thanks so much for your offer, and I'll definitely keep it in mind!

Best wishes,

val
