Begone

the party's over.
it was quite a show
but now it's time
for all to go.

but there'll always be
some who resist
the only advise
I have is this:

start howling
"Zarathustra"
or "Finnigan's wake",
or a political diatribe
from the daily fakes

as for the lingering hardcore
I guarantee they'll flee
just by quoting the "Bible".
take it from me

like scared little rabbits
they'll scatter, and fast
as if asking their help
to clean up the trash

to friends like mine,
it's the perfect pall

...proving the bible has power after all!

This time it is bitter and deep. Great ironic ending.

Question, do you refer to Nietzsche and Joyce as alternatives to quoting bible? Did i understand your poem correctly?

IRiz

no, not alternatives
reciting from Neitzsche or Joyce is arbitrary. Just a cue, a ploy, to completely change the atmosphere, like turning up all the lights
most will get it...time to go

but some are so thick, they don't get it. They are the "lingering hardcore"...they just think something weird and campy is now going on...."cool,man, do some more"

this is the reason the bible is introduced. They know enough to recognize the source....and it gives them the willys , creeping them out....I don't know why, I don't even care. It just an effective tool.

of course, all of this is just a created devise to tell a story.....But there could be something to it!

thanks Iriz Irene
I appreciate your appraisals

The Bible works, because it is something mystical and there is the point that you made about there may be something to it! Lol The concept of religion is so ingrained in our psyche, that as much as anyone protests that there is nothing to it, in the back part of our brains, we ask; "What if it's true?"
What if we have an immortal soul and there is a god? Where does that leave me? We all fear the end of US! Not worried about the fate of the rest of humanity, we keep saying to ourselves; "There is nothing to it, there is nothing to it, there is nothing... I HOPE here is nothing to it. There is noth...
All good man, [except] advice. ~ Gee.

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

I was never exposed to religious thought as a kid. A few times to Temple, but more for cultural exposure than religious reasons.

There is absolutely nothing in the back of my brain!

...I understand your point, but I think it mainly pertains to lapsed, now ex-congregants,
not to those who have never been "indoctrinated"

I see the misuse of "advise" ...spell check doesn't consider context, just that a word "appears" to be spelled correctly.

I would definitely end it at "take it from me." the rest is redundant and I think you don't need it. It ends the hypothetical party just right.

Also not sure of

or a political diatribe
from the daily fakes

Is it all fakes? Of course not. I would say daily takes. diatribe is a strong word and fakes connects it to our grand high exalted mystic ruler and his BS, and in these highly charged times, it just hit me so.

My take, honest and with best intentions

you've caught me again
not knowing where to end
I agree, redundancy is bad, bad redundancy, redundancy is not good, no bad redundancy

How about "from the daily rakes" (as in being raked over the coals) as an alternative?

your honesty and intentions are are always appreciated
