AVOIDING WINTERS

Once more the woods have closed their door
with a slam and leaves of green
just as countless times before.
Vistas for while will be unseen.
The winter is now far behind.

Gone for good the freezing wind
as warm breezes take their place.
with every puff of air they send
scents of new life to my face
banishing cold days from my mind.

Song birds greet each day for now
as they all court one another
while vibrant colors they endow
to world as well as each other
as spring continues to unwind.

Among fresh greens are varied blooms
purple, yellow,red and white.
All having escaped their dooms
from the last chill frosty night.
For them this spring has been kind.

All this seen by this old guy
while walking through a small wood lot
beneath an almost clear blue sky.
while walking I consider my lot
for my Own winter oft fills my mind.

Hello, Scribbler,
This is a beautiful tribute to spring, and a lovely farewell, for now, to winter. I, too, often mull over my own "winters." The poem's structure is so nice and tight. The last verse stood out a bit to me because of the word "lot" used twice so closely together. Perhaps a "wood spot" which would add some alliteration to the line. Probably just me... I love poems about Mother Nature and human nature. Yours is wonderful.
Thank you!
Lavender

That the double use of lot at the end of lines is awkward and I hope to remedy that with some thought
