Austral Dreaming

From Byron bay to Broome on rolling russet plains
beauty shine’s the Kimberly when the northern territory rains
My heart will always weep when the scent of wattle’s lost
gum trees out of sight my world lays unembossed

Kookaburra laughs as dawn lights us with grace
we really love to giggle even wearing egg on face
our words are sometimes drawled but wait theres a but
when we get excited ? is when things start heating up

In Pub’s and R.S.L’s your bound to meet good blokes
even cheeky sheilas who don’t mind a dirty joke
at everything we do we strive to reach the stars
even when we’re older and writing our memoirs

A country mixed in color of every different race
But every one of us Is a heartbeat of this place
creative souls are we building from red soil
everything we have was made from honest spoils

Kooris and the white folk get along alright
but sometimes when they drink they start aground to fight
the old men roar with laughter the ladies are aghast
publican runs yelling hes red enough to blast

Eucalypt and kangaroos are some of our trademarks
if you want to see real beauties our forests cant be past
mountain streams and waterfalls we really have it all
even in a snowfall we’ve had a bloody ball

Whiteness lines our shores kissed with foamy waves
lining round our border is a multitude of caves
rain-forest glistens plants are rich with life
I really hate to see them get in global strife

Cyclones rage our shores fire our summer nights
beauty rests within our hearts and red-gum minds
no different are our faces in this far-reaching world
but because a youthful land we are we’ve bowed our heads to toil

I has a toy Koala, and a few flying Doctor beanies, and a map with Australia on, have held one of those beautiful creatures, have been called a Dog by a local, been to one of your food for the poor places.
Seen the beauty of the trees and plants, taken many photo's there and had a lovely time in that Great Country, can I be an Honorary Member ????.
I hope to return one day if someone buy's me a ticket,
Good write there Jayne, we need more people to write of there,
Yours Ian.T.

Still needs some work Ive noticed a couple of small mistakes ..... Of course you can be an honorary Aussie !! Did someone call you a dog ? Or have I read that wrong ... It's so nice that you got to see some of Australia did you hold a Koala ? They can be cranky little buggers

We have a system of charities here in Aussie that help the poor a group that's growing larger ever noticed the richer a country gets the more poor people they have

Glad you liked it

Love always Jc xxx

Yep someone called me a bad name , my Daughters house in Brisbane was in one street and across the road around the corner were some other houses and one of the people there use to be a lot worse for wear on drink, she would shout abuse across toward us lol.
My Daughter has since moved to another part of Brisbane lol
Yep, we went to a wild life place (Alma Zoo or whatever its called) and I was able to hold a Koala, their fur is something else, it looks like wire but is softer than soft.
I visited one of the poor places while I was there, they sell food at a low price and give lots away, it hurts that these places are needed nit reflects on the way the country is run..
Those places are here also but have never been to one, we are the 5th richest country in the world and it happens here, I have been to third world countries and it is really bad.
The world should sort out these things and damn fast, as poverty will breed illnesses that the rest can't cope with.
Sorry it's not Sunday lol,
I had some lovely Stamps arrive from Norfolk Island this morning, they are my main collection, I have thousands of them and buy a lot of stuff on Aussie "E" Bay it is cheaper than buying here, That's another story, now I am going to my dark room with my cork festooned hat on, now that I may be accepted as an honorary Aussie..
Thinking of you all, Yours Ian.T xx

I expect you've done well in capturing the spirit of your land. There were a few lines I'd have written differently but doing so wouldn't neccessarily make this any better......................stan

I am still working on this one still needs a little bit of work I will be updating it again in the next few days I may change how some lines come out

glad you liked it
