AM I A CHILD OF LABOUR?

I was born
Under the stars
That's what
My mother told me.
She said she is in pain
Now that the lords have commanded,
To take me away.
Saying I was,
destined to work.
I shouldn't study,
I shouldn't play.
Because I'm meant for work,
And that's why I had to stay.
But when I grew up,
I wished to run away.
Go to my mother,
And ask why she left.
She'll have tears in her eyes,
And would say it was all a theft.
Would it be the fear in her mind,
Or the happiness in her heart,
That might get tears in her eyes,
And ask me to go apart.
She'd say fruits of labour
Are sweet,
But labour for me
Was like a group of animals,
Being cut for meat.
Why did I,
Come to earth?
Why did God,
Not find me worth?
Can't I study,
Can't I play,
Am I not like others,
and has to be treated like a slave?
Why should I suffer,
Why should I pay?
Why should I,
Do this every day?
