Blogs between secret diaries and shared journals

I like the idea of the blogs. Honestly speaking I firstly thought it is a secret place where you write whatever you like without having the other's see -yes, I thought it is something like a diary. Later on I found out that blogs can be public where all can read and share.
My question is do you think that the blog should be one's secret place? Or should it be public? And if so how is it different from sharing any forum entry?

Hope someone would tell me coz I honestly am not sure.

so the only difference is that the shared blogs or lets say the non private ones are almost like sharing any forum entries except that one's own posts are accumulated in one place.

There is nothing on the WWW that is secret, best to hold your own council, many trigger words are used by intruders.
I have my own web site, which is just for me to put my poetry and short stories on, yet each day I receive around 200 odd comments that have company names attached to them, and to me mean nothing..
This stops the average person from asking questions and finding out things from me.
In the last two or so months I have had to trash over 11000 comments as they are just rubbish.
No place on this net is safe, so please take care in the things you send anywhere, Yours Ian.T

Isn't it a place to converse on things connected to poetry, not poetry. Where we can state something that can be discussed, that's what I thought this blog was for, and have used it as such. I don't really know what the word BLOG means, it isn't a dictionary word, I don't think, its a jargon word, and there are so many we have to learn a whole new language to understand what the computer is talking about. And NOT a poetic one.
