PATHOLOGICAL LIAR

When one lie leads to another
Becoming an intractable disease
Like a car without brakes
You don’t know how to stop

Mendaciousness increases
Mobile phones boost the rate
And provide a cheap way out
Trust lost because of cheap gains
They don’t know where to stop

Hearts sealed against conscience
Stealing and prostitution follow
This may lead to murder, because
They don’t know when to stop

You may put a snare for the naïve
You can swell amongst your ranks
The thief has nine days, they say
The tenth is the day of reckoning
When liars will have no where to hide

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
How was my language use?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
How was the beginning/ending of the poem?
Is the internal logic consistent?

this notion, thieves have nine days? Then what? Never heard of it. Explain please. I did like the poem, and it does sound like a sermon. ~ Gee

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

It is a saying here, 'A thief has nine days and the owner has one'. Meaning, the thief goes in stealing until s/he is caught. All thieves or any wrong doer that have been caught or found out, fall into this position. it means days of wrong doing are grouped into nine days and the owner has one. That one day is the tenth. It's origin is beyond my knowledge and may have deeper cultural, sociological or spiritual root. One sees wisdom in the saying, for example, the phone hacking saga currently going on in the UK and the fallout that follows. Best wishes.
