Fly Away

Oh, won’t you stop wasting away
Yes, you heard me right I said get up
Look life in the eyes and don’t you flinch
Or she will taunt you for as long as she desires

No, it’s not the world’s fault
If you’re waiting on pity
Be ready for disappointment

Time to scratch past the surface
Ready, to face reality like a man
Or are you weaker than I thought

Keep letting some disorder have a say
Has your courage been flushed down a toilet
Or have you convinced yourself that you’re alone

Well, throw some cold water on your face
Spit out that taste of failed attempts
Straighten your shoulders and face the world

Self, stop sulking in endless sorrows
Chains of misery can’t hold you back no more
This time look your enemies in the eyes
And make them loose focus
No more sitting with your hands crossed
Stop being a passenger in your own dream
Take the wheel and become the pilot
Fly out of this small town filled with pain
Empty your trunk filled with regrets
And drive down happiness’s road

The road does await, no one can legally stop you feeling happy. It's a atate of mind we all have the ability to reach, and your poem says this constantly. Nice poem that could be tweaked here and there, but still works as it is. If you need any help let me know. Regards Roscoe..

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

As one would be. It is amazing just how much we still can steer our destiny. The key is that single minded pro-active decision to take the controls and head out into the blue. Quite inspiring!

'Break, break break on thy cold grey stones, O Sea.'

to criticize here! Good job!
~ Geez.

It seems that the days and hours that people
are available for chatroom are staggered and
not a good match for most everyone. How about
if everyone just shows up at the door, whenever
they have a few free minutes?

No, it’s not the '''world’s''' fault
If you’re waiting on pity
Be ready for
