The Alien D.J.

The Alien D.J.

Oh Mr alien please land near me
just like the DJ says
don’t go to Africa or the middle East
come to where comfort obeys.

You don’t want to see the starving
or hear the wailing of the oppressed
Come to sunny Florida, New York, Paris
or London, maybe that would be best.

You see here we have class, culture,
no one hungers but our silly slimmer’s
I’m sure there’s more for you to see
we even have lights with dimmers

The poor countries can’t get our lights
they could never pay their electric bill
We sometimes try to help them but
it takes up an awful lot of good will

That good will we’ll save for you if
you can only land where we are
Land your space ship at one of our studios
then we’ll transport you to the city by car

Cars are like one of the family we
even have houses for them to stay clean
Why a house is something you pay for
by sweat of brow in the money machine

Pay, well that’s what we do with money
and money an invention we have created
We use it for all our daily living needs and
everyone loves spending it if not inflated

You would love our beautiful cars as we do
they run on petrol or diesel, some maybe gas
We make these fuels from a black liquid called oil
which the poor fight and die for, Poor? Oh that’s a class

Class is what I’m talking about when
I say you must come and see us first
It’s a kind of people separation of sorts
like us drinking champs while African’s thirst

Africa now that’s one place you don’t want to see
mind, they’ve got plenty of space for you to land
But that’s where you’ll see the horror of starvation
and mile upon mile of golden bloody barren sand

Blood from the murder and killing of the innocents
gold is what we get with our mighty pound or gun
We buy gold with pound, sell them guns for the pound
then we have all the riches, them? to much bloody sun.

Well we let some of their people live amongst us
because the white poor of our own want some wealth
We’re not allowed to shoot the lazy bastards anymore
so we just play the money and job market with stealth

And the other side of the Atlantic is really appalling
we bought their trees to make our beautiful furniture
They blamed us because mountains keep falling
knocking over the homes and churches of the poor

Church you don’t want to hear about that, anyway
the fact that you’re here really blew a hole in that
Well we had to control the masses the best we could
and that little white lie kept us all rich and fat

So you see Mr alien what I’m saying
you must land in our glorious nation
If you landed with them and had power
I’m sure they’d try to live above their station

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Last few words:
This poem came about when i heard the dj on the radio say wouldn't the aliens laugh at us if they landed now. As we would be running around with funny hats on for christmas, never considering they might land somewhere other than the developed wealthy countries.

how long have you worked on this? the rhyming scheme was so smooth that i hardly noticed it the first read thru. i liked how this piece had a little subtle edge to it. not exactly racism but more like patriotic hubris.
it's funny how we can create such long and thoughtful works from so little inspiration.

Thank you, it's just when i get angry these days i write to get things of my chest. I can remember band aid which seems so long ago now. But christmas must be more than just about us, and this dj,maybe he just couldn't think of anything to say at that particular moment. But it just made me feel that we were so bloody selfish, that we were the only ones worthy of meeting new life forms. And other poorer countries who can't enjoy chrismas were left out of even that. Anyway that's my rant over, thank you again Regards Roscoe...

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.
