My reflection

The day was very special when
your arrival was announced.
The doctor came smiling to me
soon you would be around.
Oh my God! Was it really true?
Inside me somewhere- You.

You occupied my thoughts
I was often found daydreaming
I already had your face in mind
your tiny limbs and lovely eyes
And I started talking to you
trust me that’s no lie.

Day by day I felt you more
as you started to show
I could feel you moving and kicking
I could feel you grow
You would be a reflection of me
Your dad wants you to be so.

It was almost the time that you came
We prepared for the big day
Winnie the Pooh and Sophie the Giraffe
toys pink and grey
And whatever you will want
we’ll let you have your way.

Then, something happened.
I slipped off the stairs
My world turned upside down
you were in despair
I saw blood run down my thigh
Horrified, I let out a cry.

On the way to the hospital
I felt that you’re in pain
I could sense your screams
that grew fainter
And then a sudden silence
I didn’t hear you again.

The doctor asked me to calm down
“It will be fine”, he said.
As I was drowsed with medication
I heard some words
critical, emergency
and dead.

When I woke up I saw you
You had my eyes, my lips, my chin
And your nose, resembling mine
was long, sharp and thin
It was now that I realised
I stared at you like a rock
I was indeed as dead as you
just a few more breaths in stock.

The contents of this makes a strong poem Samaira

We sense you have experienced this kind of happening?
I have not-no children.

Love Ann of Norway.

"And you nose, resembling mine" ...your nose?

"The image of yourself which you see in a mirror Is dead,
but the reflection of the moon on water, lives." Kenzan.

I corrected the typo. It is annoying that I am always unable to see the typos before posting.

Oh no, I have not experienced this personally, but a close relative did recently.
Thanks for reading.

Love and regards

Keep smiling, keep shining.
