It Comes And Goes...

Hours slide by, the time draws near
Dreadful embrace
I face the fear

Get back in the seat; on the horse
Visions of maybe...
But I go, of course

I must be the man, I say I am
Something to prove
Don't let the door slam

It will hit you, in the ass you know
Push it open
Com'on... let's go

"courage" - You must do it first then the courage comes, that first step is the hardest.

IT'S ABOUT LEARNING HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN.

you have it right. If I think on my fears too much, I will never get the courage to do the things I need to. Thanks for the read and comment. ~ Gee

Sure sounds like pre 2nd wedding jitters lol............stan

I was robbed at gunpoint in my taxi, 2 weeks ago this Sun. I wrote this as a little pep-talk to get me back in the taxi, before my courage ran out. It is a hazard of driving taxi that you face. This is the second time I've been robbed, but the first time, they didn't have a gun. It was two guys, and they were high on crack-cocaine. They just grabbed me, and hit me in the head with something. I got over that one faster than this one, because a gun is something that will kill you if something goes wrong. But I have managed to get to work, these past days, by just putting it in the back of my mind, and trying not to think too much about it. I didn't want to color anyone's vision of my poem, so I didn't let on until I had some feedback on it. Thanks for all the comments. ~ Gee

The courage to repeat something is evident here and they say it's like riding a horse, if you fall off then get straight back on, I hope it gallops into the sunset with you smiling.

First and foremost I am glad you are okay and sorry to hear that incident you had. Not to make you more nervous but in our county there have been a lot of killings of cab drivers and one just for ten dollars. It is horrible. They need to have more protections maybe a fence and back seat for sure and body check them before they get in the cab. Wow I can see my suggestion going over the roof there:) This day and age you can't be too careful for society is gotten more evil and desparate to rob, kill and maim... I pray for you to continue but if it gets so bad for you and brings you pain, file for disability for PTSD or get another job if you can.. That is crazy that the company is not paying you for this awful happenings not once but two times. How could anyone feel better to transport mere criminals somewhere when they do the things they do to cab drivers all over the place.

Makes me sick..too much of violence nowadays, all you have to do is turn your tv or read it in the paper. If a rider looks too suspicious just leave and call your supervisor or the cops. These people are nuts these days.
Almost forgot good poem here makes one really think on... You be well my Saturday Night Host

Love to you

for your concern. It is a problem here too, but not really that bad. it has been over two years, since anyone has been killed, but I guess it could happen anytime. We did have a shield in our taxis, but it was not liked by us or the customers. It left no leg room for the driver or the passengers. It also made it very hard to hear what the people were saying. And one person was shot through the driver's window when he let the passenger out, so I guess that they didn't do too much good. We have gotten pretty good at judging people before they get in, and we all have just driven off when we have felt that something was not right. I was just not prepared for this one, as he had ridden from the next town with me, and was friendly, and we talked almost all the way. When I was letting him out, he just stuck the gun in my ribs, and said Gimme your money! I was taken completely by surprise! I guess it is just something that happens, and if I want to continue to drive, I will have to deal with it. Love ya, ~ Gee
