I don’t think I can live without you
I’d feel naked out there
Left all alone, with nothing

I’d have no life if you ever left me
With a severed connection
I’d be nothing, left all alone

(chorus)
My world hangs on the press of a key
My adrenalin shot of technology
Destination cyberspace
Binary code now my identity

(chorus)
My world sits on the click of a key
Speed along information highway
Destination cyberspace
Virtual existence held in binary

I really can’t survive without you
I’d be lost out there
Left all alone, with nothing

(middle 8)
Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook
Search engines, Adobe and Facebook
Messenger, Skype, email and mp3
Plasma tv, and webcam all in HD

(middle 8)
Sat nav, Paypal, apps and eReader
Mozilla Firefox, and Intel i7 core processor
Apple Mac and Windows 2010
iPod, iPad and wireless connection

I know I’d die if you ever left me
I’d be disconnected
With nothing, left all alone

Lonnie,

I haven't yet worked towards any musical style for this one yet. The only idea I had was a robotic voice chanting out the various applications from the bridge. Still working the lyrics first before taking it to the recording step.

Pleased you liked it my friend,

regards,

HS

Barbara,

it is quite scarey when we look back to about 10 years ago when we didn't have even a quarter of the technology we do now. We now use it everyday and would be lost without it. I mislaid my mobile phone the other day...you'd have thought my world had come to an end...it had everything in it I needed!! I found it by the way!!

We have become comfortable with technology...but turn the electricity off and half the country will come to a stand still!!

Thanks for reading and commenting,

regards,

HS

A bit too much dependence on the ol' technology huh? An unusual subject well handled.............stan

Stan,

an anti-nature poem just for you!! LOL!

I have taken your advice and often walk the dog in the woods without any technology on me...except for my dog being electronically tagged and monitored by a satellite somewhere!! Can we ever really be free from technology? And how many CCTV cameras monitor my walk from the house to the woods? There is always somebody watching...hence the hood!! LOL!

Cheers,

HS

Without the damned technology we could not be versing here, but that sword has 2 edges. Once you become as old and ugly as me you won't have to worry about lenses focusing on you because they will all either shatter or be overloaded with reflected light from shiny pate lmao

Stan,

yes, without technology, we wouldn't have Neopoet.

You'd be amazed how good airbrushing can be when dealing with old, ugly and bald men...but if that don't work, do as I do and hide in a hood!

I really like this one!! It seems to me you can read it two ways, on the one hand you are talking about how much we rely on the Internet these days. I know my life seems to have a great deal to do with my laptop, but on the other you could be talking about someone you love, a love song for your Computer.

I can't see anything that I would change.

Lou

Stand tall, be proud to be who you are, give the world the finger!!!!

Lou,

a love story about my computer!! LOL!...not quite...but I would be heartbroken without it!!

Thanks for reading and commenting...and know you've also commented on this on anotehr site too.

regards and thanks for the ideas you suggested before it was posted,

I wonder if just a wee few words in the technology verses might imply the paucity of such travesties as twitter and facebook. Otherwise it is like two poems interspersed.

And I do like to inform the world on Facebook that I've just had a good shit.

Jess,

the bridge of the lyric, where the technology verses sit will be recodrded as a robotic voice and will be spoken very quickly due to the fast tempo that will be brought in for that part...hence the number of apps in it. Until I actually record it it is unclear if I need that many or if I need more.

Glad you had a successful bowel movement, always makes a good start to the day.

you have come up with an offbeat poem/lyric here..damn good one in the context of the present day scenario ...first let me dwell on the title which is intriguing...true that it has a link to the binary system used by computers which now control our lives...but then it doesn't explain "1" in the sequence of numbers since (forgive my ignorance) i don't think belongs to the binary system...i am still wondering about the title...will you please break that code for me? it will help in not pulling my hair .which are like diminishing returns with age..lol..

coming to the theme...it really illustrates how we have been enslaved by technology...which is an irony because technology was meant for us (masters) whereas we have now become almost it slaves...in the context of individuals...no doubt technology has indeed been very useful in many other ways...be it in healthcare...industry...music...and in innumerable spheres. but for which meteorologists wouldn't have been able to predict the weather...the tsunami / storms/earthquake/hurricane warnings...i hope you and your beloveds are safe...and wish that everyone in Irene's path stays safe with minimal damage to people ...properties...animals and nature...

i was wondering why hurricanes are given female names?...if ever a male name is to be proposed ..HS wouldn't be far from my mind considering its mysterious nature ...lol...

Cheers!!

raj (sublime_ocean)

Raj,

I totally messed up with this one. I knew I wanted a Binary code as the title (btw it doesn't mean anything specific, just a binary number) but I added in number 2 as well...duh! Obviously binary is in zero's and ones! I have amended the title accordingly and with a slight emabrrased red face too! LOL!

The theme came to me as I looked in horror as my laptop crashed and when re-started saying "No operating system"...meaning it needs a complete re-boot losing anything I hadn't already saved to my external hard drive. Then imagine my horror when the external hard drive, refused to turn on. Thus leaving me with very little data that was backed up on it.

The lyric came out as a reaction to my anger at losing so much.

Thankfully most of it is replaceable, but the main upset for me is losing all my photos of my Son. The hard drive is now with a specialist, hoping he will retrieve the missing data.

Hurricane with female names...an interesting one that...no idea why.

Hooded Hurricane or Hurricane Hood...LOL!

cheers mate,

sorry to know about the source / inspiration behind these lyrics...good luck for the expert to retrieve the missing data from your hard / external drive/s...

i was trying to confuse you while inquiring why 1 has appeared in title when binary system is of 0 an 2...but you are brilliant and methodical so you picked up the numbers pretty well and revised the title...

i am now worried about your better half since after reading the lyrics she may think how you are getting more involved with someone other than her..lol...

cheers!

raj (sublime_ocean)

Raj,

you know me, I usualyy so methodical when it comes to details...to miss the binary numbers was so blantantly obvious, I missed it!!

My fingers are crossed too regarding the hard drive...but then I watch the tv and see people losing their entire homes to the hurricane and realise my hard drive is hardly important the grand scheme of things.

My wife is also addicted to technology, so we aren't aren't havinga ffairs with our software!! LOL!

cheers,

we were talking about affairs with hard wares and not soft wares weren't we? LOL

fun apart..you are right about the loss of data being miniscule as compared to the wreck caused by hurricane Irene...

i wish for rehab of both ..those who lost their homes and data too...

raj (sublime_ocean)

Raj,

LOL...yes hardware, not softwares LOL!
