Last Rites

Last Rites

That a good friend likes Johnny
Should add a comment in itself
Makes the thought radiant
More than brilliant
Down deep below the earth,
It will be cold
And
Seeping water will kill me more
But no one will be able to hear,
If I were to have been buried
Without having been dead as clear.

Save the earth and let houses be built
And
Place for those who live
Be given a soul,
A dead person is simply dead
Can come back to life no more

So I’d always prefer the warmth and love
You all so freely did shower,
As in life, so also in death,
Let my ashes be added
To the daily rainy shower
To be spread about the earth
To help production
Of fruits and vegetation
For all those who have yet to take birth.

Ah! The most important aspect
I'd had in mind,
Seems to have gone rotten,
You will continue to give me
The warmth
As I seemingly get forgotten.

I really like this very much.
One thing. stanza 3, line 7, I don't like the word "production", it seems out of place, not fitting i properly, for me. I don't know what could replace it though, given the rhyme right there.

author comment

We love while we are alive, in death there is only the opportunity to pine and mourn.
