Poets say they have lost their Muses

The Nine Muses

Calliope
It is a long story to write of you,
An Epic will that do
On many tablets as in days of old
This is how your story is told

Clio
Of times past you tell
Of battles won, and times of hell
Rest a while let your scrolls foresee
A calming image, for you and me.

Erato
Now sing lyric's softley to me please
A beauty toned from your lyre to tease
Play to me in dreams stories of the old
Tales from the Greeks so I am told.

Euterpe
Sing to me in melodious tones
Play rhythms in these modern head phones
“No!” You say this cannot be
On my Aulos playing, just listen to me.

Melpomene
Of tragedy you are walled in
A mask you wear that has no grin
Talk to me of things I’ve done
Where there is hurt in everyone.

Polyhymnia
A beauty of the Sacred Verse
Tales of love for the universe
Veiled from those that cannot see
Give me a glimpse of eternity.

Terpsichore
Oh wondrous words of dancing fun
A song made let lyrics run
Oh play, for me, on your Lyre
Let me dance away filled with fire.

Thalia
Let’s have some Comic fun
Words of mirth let poetry run
That mask you wear makes us smile
Please let me wear it for a while.

Urania
With your eyes I search the stars
With telescopes that see afar
Poetry on a globe you know
A compass in your hand to show..
.
These are little pieces written to conform to what the muses are like and the parts they play in the way of things.
They can never be lost, it is just that you are looking but not seeing, learn to feel, they will be there always,
Thalia will attend the humorous workshop so think
Yours Ian

isn't on this list :) She is never lost, sometimes she just takes a break when she doesn't feel she has anything valuable to contribute.

"Quoth said the Raven, NEVERMORE"

That's great that you have a muse with a differing name or Identity, These are the ones from way back, so I suppose more have joined the throng to help people writ, I have a Monk and many muses so am never short of words and things to write.
We could make this a subject for a long Blog to learn from.
Take care young Lady, Yours as always Ian

Ian and me only
u know lots of and about poetry

I research many things and when poets say they have lost their Muse it makes me smile, as you know I have many strange beings as friends and some are even alive, that can talk to me and edge my poetry into forms acceptable to a few.
It's late here so I will pop off not to feed the Dogs, or ring bells though lol..
Take care young Bard , Yours Ian and all his friends. xxx
