A Muse

The day became unbearable
Until I heard someone say
You must think of things inside
As poets do each day

There inside is a world
Of dreams and many scenes
A cool mountain breeze
Dancing with the trees

Then waters stretching far
To that distant shore
There send fresh crispy air
They will feel you there

Let the good memories fly
To those you love
That in the by and by
They will have them too

impossible dreams

I longed for more time
to lay cornerstones,
but life had started
detaching my soles

I wanted more daylight
to see a Galaxy of beauty
that rested,
within one finger of breath

I desired of many things

to walk the Ponte Vecchio
and glimmer in its wares,
casting a reflection in the Arno
that wavered to the Vasari

to shelter
beneath a Sistine vision
as Michelangelo, Raphael
Botticelli and Bernini
dart in and out
of my haunt,
smudging all in view

Watching

Body shattered

beyond repair

kicked, battered

bypassers stared

Good Samaritan

no longer exists

fear spreading

guardian’s a myth

Waiting to intervene

hesitatation

ruptured spleen

devastation

For myself, no respect

stood crying

cause and effect

my soul’s dying

what are we but a part of thee ..family

we are a great family
till our sojourn on this earth
no one is ever attached to anyone
for ever after birth

we all move on..

all my best teachers were unmarried
yet we found the warmth in them
that has till today
I proclaim
made me worth a living soul
till I remain

after that who knows?

you are one such person
for whom I have regards high
and find the sky not high enough …

small poem

we are naked in the kitchen, lip to cheek
I am white as pearl, soft with sleep
toast burns, but on the floor

sand glitters diamonds-

memory of ocean, long bleached ribs of beach
your wind dried body, complexity of male
wrapped deep around my pale

translucent peace

Peppermint Tea

It's 6am
our Spaniel yawns
and pads softly

scratches and whines
his needs override
mine

he escapes effortlessly

I'm trapped in bleary
ablution
tea and toast the
usual solution

bubbles swirling inside me
wrapped in fleece

I sit like a bloated
furry animal
the dog nestles
sensing
kinship

I sip peppermint tea
in lady-like fashion
with a curly-haired dog
on my knee

A waft of malodorous
emission

Flipping Papers

When they flipped those papers
I just broke down
It was all going away, all the pain of yesterday
I laughed hysterically at my own lies
As I felt myself come undone from their ties

Blinding darkness dimmed against the light
Freedom! I’ve come back again
Smiling is no longer fake
Living no longer a chore
All those silly days and all their silly ways
Is a distant memory now
Like something my brain won’t allow

e n t r e . . .n o u s

light down the hall
auspicious
and the dreams of
nerves
speeding
in the vein

sunlight along the
hearts pulse
like the current of
wind raising sand
to a vision kept
burning
the brilliant torch

the soul is a photo
scratched behind
broken glass
the rain has drenched
its kiss through years
stained like swollen
passion
held damp in warm hands

a bite sharp and bitter
from the shards
sharp as the worn familiar
hand of cards

All I see is Red

I listen to the radio
And all I hear is hate
I turn on my TV set
And I hear there's no debate

Well I can feel the change wind
Blowing on my head
I look to the red, white, and blue
But all I see is red

Take away the weapons
For the actions of a few
While babies are being murdered
Does it make sense to you?

I'm just an old country boy
Who grew up with country pride
And all the damned injustice
I just can't abide

Caught

Having discovered you,
beside him,
no,not even a her,
frozen,
arms entwined,
caught as only lovers can be caught
The air whispering intimacy,
horror
the experience of
the one who caught you

You did not deny it.
You just said "you wouldn't mind would you?"
Unknowing of the pain caused by your ignorance
Hoping you could lead life
doubling up me with him,
or was it him with me?

Which came first?
or did neither?
