Stoplight

Stoplight flashing in the dark.
Heartbeat of a sleeping town.
Red and yellow flashes reaching
into the darkness.
They bounce off storefront glass in all directions.
And the people dream on.
With the dawn resuscitation of
the citizens reflected in a now
tricolor cycling.
The nightly ritual of countless little hamlets
once more complete.

TOO SOON

Why is it they had to leave
so long before their times
leaving folks like us to grieve
and write our second class poor rhymes?

Their ghosts still dwell within my head
in their writing and their song
maybe they're not really dead
while we still read or sing along.

Poe who led such troubled life,
who still resounds just like before,
whose poems cut like pendelum's knife.
When shall he write now? Nevermore

Sleep

Fighting the urge
So magnetic your pull
You always find me
Filled with your essence
I fall to my bed

Dreams erupe in vibrant color
Until it fades to black
Absent am I
Nothingness ignites
Burning away memory
As ashes quietly settle
And the pain has reseated

Eyes wide open
Day light streaming through like liquid gold
Dust sparkling between shadow
After the daze
And floating thought
I inhale sweet air
With lightness I rise

Another hopeless night
Reborn in pure morning

K a s t i l l i o n . . .

me... The Oak Tree

Shake me shake
I shan't break
my roots are deeper
than any could make
let my limbs
with leaves be raked
but still I'll stand
in pride -not fake

Now come on find
a place to rest
where I'll shade
to meet your quest
just come on now
and be my guest.

Let Me Leap

Let me begin
Find truth through folly
Face the light
Practice life until theory becomes fact
Let me leap
Soar through the galaxy, spinning
So high up, gliding in blurry neon
Reaching for God at our passing glance
Catching space in my hands
Let me love
Caring arms take me to euphoria
Locks, and chains fall from my imprisoned heart
We blossom in love
Familiar smells unleash the flood of memory
Just to keep form floating
Let me sigh
To take a calm breath
Find peace in morning light

Venus in Abalone

Venus in Abolone

At sunrise strolling whitecapped beach
all thoughts stray as seagull fly
mind pulled full from human reach
by mother ocean's lullaby

un-thoughts buried deep enough
that a flash bold caught the eye
pointed path on a different bluff
to see the flare under the sky

Imbedded, buried in tide's cruel rut
I pulled and it stubbornly, finally gave
slipped wet sand from it, I saw a form jut
from a shell iridescent, a motionless slave

Shadow

Your voice calls from the Dark

Whispers that haunt

                each flake of Snow

The wet kiss of the ice trails my cheek

The only truth,

                the ground with each step.

Your tongue darts the mind

Thoughts tortured

with each stab of the Arctic wind

The warmth of my palms partially melts the ice

The true rest,

                The completeness of the Dark.

The wind marries the Dark

A silent Blizzard

I am nowhere and everywhere

SPRING FEVER (theory of relativity shop)

Sitting in a poplar's shade
on this late spring afternoon
while heat sends shimmers in the glade
summer time will be here soon

A drop of sweat dives off my nose
as I sip on a cold sweet tea
I can't shed any further clothes
for it would show too much of me

Bumbling bees provide a hum
as they pollinate the varied flowers
a toneless tone which leaves me numb
after hearing it for hours

CIRCLE--edit

CIRCLE

We who to this earth
are born
last as long
as it is by our nature
deemed
and from our beginnings strong
and bold
the seed in us grows too quickly old.
each day we begin to fade
and must leave behind
that which in us has died
and having gleaned what is left
we start all over again
