The Visitor

By: Mary Beth Magee

You visit for a moment,

Accept a breath of hospitality,

Then dash away again.

You share your company briefly.

But in that time, oh,

The magic you bring.

From tiny eggs to instars

To gloriously patterned wing.

I watched you hatch and crawl,

Grow, shed and wriggle.

You change your dress. Your

New look makes me giggle.

You give me joy and delight

With your aerial ballet.

My royal friend, magician,

Harlequin at play,

Dear monarch, share your gift

Of grand, exuberant joy

With all. Give us eyes to

See, and feelings to employ.

You set an example

Of living in the moment.

Let us live so our days

Are likewise spent.

Dash on, my friend,

Your destiny calls.

Send your children my way

When the milkweed grows tall.

Spring Comes

By: Candlewitch

Fields of springy clover

beneath my barefoot toes,

dance-happy feet kick up

a delight everyone knows!

Green, green all around,

a heart full of joys untold

rolling over and over in

nature's paradise hold!

In gardens of my growing hopes

tulips, buttercups and crocus

flourish healthily blossoming,

as Spring comes into focus.

OCEANIC GHOSTS

Each movement showers of light rays
spread out from my limbs,
as if the sea were all a sparkling pond of magical beings,
their tiny presences made visible by disturbance;
this ethereal glow,
sends the mind to fantasies of other worlds,
where stars are born,
or in the luminous deep sea plankton as it stirs.

My ghost

I have lost my ghost
it was wrapped around my legs
an amorous infinite python

My food does not go mysteriously missing
my favourite spots are not occupied
I am not reproached for existing

My bed is my own!

Maybe,
just maybe,
this time,
I am not talking about a cat

MASQUERADE

MASQUERADE

...and a silence dark and unforgiving

fell on this house

and all my kindnesses were brought

to naught.

Evil stares at me with different faces

Smiles turn into serpent's hisses

whispers of a Judas

dance frenetic around Truth

and Innocence

you do crucify.

Abstract Fiasco

novice painters
bend and twitch
a castle,
a kiss,
a face turned two

the master's glare
turns the screws
'neath Picasso's umbrella
....bliss twists to blue

disjointed dreams
drip and fade
as bereted visions
meet
the light of day

and only the elerly laugh

Bread and circuses

Eleventh hour has passed again:
Wrinkle capped Men wreathed,
Widowed, psychopath onlookers grieve
Under a common grey sky, have

Fallen beneath the wheels of the cart again,
The grinding machinations grate
At furies far flung
And little understood by those too civilized

For wars that come undone:
Dare we criticize now, in the time
Of glowering, decorated men
That guard the blood tradition?

Just one more night…..

Just one more night,
you have just come and so late
we haven't had enough fun as yet,
why do you want to go away,
do stay

another sweet session will end up
better than as best
do stay...
Ah do stay
Okay
just another night will relieve our very being
just a night more my love,
can you not stay

what am I asking of you
just a night of your life’s day
only for today
yes my loved one,
do please ,do stay...

R E V E R V A R I A T I O N Z

THAT door with its faulted LOCK slams and
clicks...the magic touch
the deadbolt unsliding
an open thought
in the drafty light
like the cigarette haze
the perfume drape
on tired furniture
the tricks of xmas lites

voices linger like a
travellers lullabye
an echo of moment

jacket full of promize
and an empty blaze
that races in our haunted
passion

Answered

Two little blackbirds
part ways forever
and nobody bothers why,

the sun sheds a tear
just before she sets
and philosophers do not
even care,

those keyboard sages
from the east and west,
where snow falls
and summer is a thing,
they won't ask why.

It's only I who seems
to care,
to worry why
the earthworm dies
without a marked grave.

Moon Madness

Prostrate. in fevered dream light, I swallow your kisses,
drawing sustenance from empty myth, as your waters break
over my parched dying soul to breech my needs in cold
nature once again.

Where are our fifty daughters as I howl at your passing?
Would that they nurse their father's madness with a single
waking touch, as my dreamless finality nears? There are no
armored sons close as I convulse to memories of my youthful
loves and lie, pale, and abandoned to my chosen course.

Many times when you break up.

Many times when you break up...and hold another’s hands …
you always recall the warmth of the first one...
who had held your hand …

but then comes a barrier in between …
his ego and mine..

His anyone can define…
but none can mine

I all along my decades of sharing knowledge…
have requested all
take a step...one at a time… lest you fall …

and most love to fall along with the ladder…
that's about all… and then make stories tall ------
