Saddled

Depth hot tease
stirs motes of life
protesting rise
the waltz pressed
up against the flesh
of sleep
to gasp and strain
exposed
hungry for the sky

Growing
tasting the fingers
of rain sluicing
rushing
drowning filling
washing
basking drying
climbing

Love is a bloom
gulping fast the
nutrients of taste
bruised by the
beating of hail
and scolded with
frost

The Gift

Should I gift you

topaz, cameo
or amethyst

a string of gemstones
seems to be
the right band
for your satisfaction!

I love it on your wrist

I hate though
to see
your beauty
enchained.

Dewey No. 007

Vellum elegant
thumbed not turned
concealed
A license to shhh...

Watermarked
typefaced narration
secret exploration
of plot and characterisation

My book...

when you were young

when you were young
did you ever lay down in the back of a ute
as mum and dad drove up the drive
and you slid your hands over the edge
to massage the dirt below
billowy clouds arose
of dust and ash
they rose like giants, men and kings
and fuck it was beautiful

and heaven and earth shall sing...

a letter to Wesley

august 15 4036,

a nursery rhyme for today (an octogram)

a question now, I do implore
where's Tommy's tune?
a lad to make you sad, heartsore
poor of fortune
bereaved of mum and dad at birth
an orphan thus deprived of mirth
on corners begs with plate and spoon
where's Tommy's tune?

emaciated, headed for
an early tomb
for supper Tommy Tucker scores
a bowl of gloom
so after you've been bathed and fed
and tucked up there all snug in bed
with Mamma's lullaby's soft croon
where's Tommy's tune?

BIRTH OF THE UNCREATED

Let's go beyond
the immediate
and listen to the
inexpressible profundity
that underlies
what is known
and seen

unknowable
un-seeable
indefinable
the silence beyond
words
the unity beyond
divisiveness

Take a walk
to the edge of finitude
step off
and try to fathom
what lies beyond

Let's shatter our
world
and create a new one
because that's perhaps
where our destiny lies

Nissan Fourteen At Sundown April contest

A full moon shineth bright at dusk
On Nissan fourteen at sundown
Millions observed memorial
On Nissan fourteen at sundown.

In the twilight Jesus stood trial
On Nissan fourteen at sundown
That fateful night Jesus thus died
On Nissan fourteen at sundown.

Judas betrayed him with a kiss
On Nissan fourteen at sundown
For thirty pieces or silver
On Nissan fourteen at sundown.

Jesus ate with his eleven
On Nissan fourteen at sundown
As his betrayer sealed his fate
On Nissan fourteen at sundown.

Little Mice

There is at least one little mouse,
maybe two
that has taken up residence in my kitchen.

And while I don't know
if mice know the difference
between food and trash
I only see evidence of my new roommate
in the cupboards, not the bin.

Yesterday, my wife and son
heard the yelps of a neighborhood cat,
who came by and doted affection on us
as we called to it.
The sublime little hunter purred and cooed
as we petted her upon
the neck and her back.

Kondusive Tropo

Scintillate
carotid pulse wave
damp rain laden light

Our shoes have lost the
weather sodden damp
Dark hair with nests of
pearls

Eyes of fury in the heat
of Neon Gleam
smiles of livid mirth
before slipping into
darker seams

Hiss traffic kiss on
reverb walls
like our temporal
hearts swum
Lovesick seas
giddy knees
