The Visitor

By: Mary Beth Magee

You visit for a moment,

Accept a breath of hospitality,

Then dash away again.

You share your company briefly.

But in that time, oh,

The magic you bring.

From tiny eggs to instars

To gloriously patterned wing.

I watched you hatch and crawl,

Grow, shed and wriggle.

You change your dress. Your

New look makes me giggle.

You give me joy and delight

With your aerial ballet.

My royal friend, magician,

Harlequin at play,

Dear monarch, share your gift

Of grand, exuberant joy

With all. Give us eyes to

See, and feelings to employ.

You set an example

Of living in the moment.

Let us live so our days

Are likewise spent.

Dash on, my friend,

Your destiny calls.

Send your children my way

When the milkweed grows tall.

Spring Comes

By: Candlewitch

Fields of springy clover

beneath my barefoot toes,

dance-happy feet kick up

a delight everyone knows!

Green, green all around,

a heart full of joys untold

rolling over and over in

nature's paradise hold!

In gardens of my growing hopes

tulips, buttercups and crocus

flourish healthily blossoming,

as Spring comes into focus.

On and On...

I cried this day
When the air that is free
Would not fill my lungs
Could not carry me

I sat on the throne
Barely able to breathe
Seat of what's left
Tried to take ease

Accepting the blame
Not liking it though
Taking on Death
But, “Damn, I'm so slow!”

Sunshine is warm
The sky is so blue
I've still some fight left
Yes, I'm promising you!

Mozarts sonata

playing this solo instrument, the scenery slow
has an outer space setting with nova and planets
and record a macro, when you have entered this preferences
humans are all cartoon masterpiece , cut around
the bee with the scissors tool and drag it around
make the bee bob from flower to flower,
leave the bee, paste in a butterfly
and float it around the flowers, primogenitors
remember, before you play back into micro oblivion
you must put everything back into the position
it was in when you started mourning morbid mortality

THE WRONG WOMAN

Time for a woman president?
that's all the fourth estate can see.
They think that she's heaven sent.
God save us all from Hillary.

She was Secretary of State.
Do you not recall Benghazi?
She slept and left them to their fate.
God save us all from Hillary.

Not the first time she shifted blame,
an online video don't you see?
One more lie to preserve her fame.
God save us all from Hillary.

Poetry sans borders

let the flowers blossom
in forests foothills,ravines

let a child explore
than implore his free spirit

rivers find their course
clouds in their free form delight

poetry is alchemy
beyond the laws of physics

elements of nature
air, water, fire, soil, ether
our very own being
mind body heart and soul
do substantiate
beauty in diversity

I love wild flowers
than those laid neatly in rows
I love poetry
for its essence than just form

ONE ATOM

In a swirl of the whole universe:
one simple atom by itself.
Just one nucleus and electron
bound to and circling one another
throughout eternity.

You are my nucleus.

The Bitter Pill

If ignorance is a disease,
don't let it fester!
Swallow the bitter pill of truth
dispell the false praises.
The honey-sweet lies given
to stroke your pride,
the poison that you took
to feed your self-indulgence
will not make you wiser.
It is halting you from becoming
the man that you must be,
one who deserves acknowledgement,
someone who is willing to strive
in the process of learning,
a man who has faced honesty
with such humiity that he benefits
from the experience

Crown

You
are
so
charmingly
enchanting
with
those
lush
irresistible
mystical
eyes
and
Your soul
is worldly
from dusk,
in the deserts
to dawn,
in the mountains
your mind
deep as
the ocean
and a
kiss
from
your lips,
an ancient potion
your presence
soft as flower petals
that fall from a rose, in a crown of thorns
upon my head.

Rough Sketch

Line. Shade. Smudge.
Temptation of reliving pain
Poisons the unknown.

An undiscovered road,
Lead infused,
Drafts vivid memories,
Sinking between old and new.

New ideals
Attempt to compensate wounds.
Yet, internal wickedness
Contaminates growth.

Encapsulated emotions
Blur reality,
Distorting what’s to come.

With patterns redrawn
From sunrise to sunset,
Convergence remains,
And release from the past unmet.

Bedtime Story

The script unfolds
in the eyes
while lips read,
between the lines
of finger trails
treading over goosebumps
like braille

The script unfolds
page after page
eyes livid
in an ecstatic gaze
nerves tingling
in anticipation
of the climax

Lips part
eyes close
muscles tense
in sensuous yearning
as your nail scrapes
the final script
"Hurry, I can't wait"
