The Reward For Persistence

I used to walk away
when people say
that my goal is unreachable,
that it's impossible
but it making me miserable
for not facing the trial.

So I spent my time,wondering
what lies beyond the mountains
and I can't stop staring
when the wise has spoken,
telling me that I shoun't hesitate
and let others dictate my actions.

Sometimes to embrace destiny,
one must leave life's comfort
and seek the meaning of harmony
in a different perception..

Goodbye my sweet friend

Goodbye my sweet Buddy Blaze you were a very sweet
and gentle fellow who gave me lots smiles and joy.
And I will always be remembering you hopping and playing in yard
In the grass and laying on my bed eating a carrot.
But now you are over the rainbow bridge a far better
place where you can be with your sister Fawn who was probably
happy to see you again and all the other bunnies I have there too.
you always be in my heart and I will never forget you.
your Binky free my Sweet friend be at peace.

FRIDGEDAIRE

beaudleine spleen
in the tiny icy box the amber
elixir...Gibsons
shes got her gossamer
wings open
slid off the leather
still damp with the weather

huddle at the heater
the iron cast feeder
while the candles flicker
votice
we gave love our notice

the pony legs and sex
appeal
the little kits
that make our souls
squeal

Taking stock: Triptych

I
Of Feet.

Take off your shoes
Reveal your feet to the ground
And sigh, as your mind lets go that leather bound
Vestige, and lay with your toes buried sound
In the knowledge that feet are best unclothed
Against the foot of the world
And our toes don’t tell tales to our souls
About the paths we tread as we walk,
Toward each other.

II
Of fire

some so many now say

Gratitude

What does one lose?
in being kind
just you I ought to remind

read my poetry and unwind
your mind

a newer vein of poetic flood
now you are bound to find

Some say my poetry is becoming

Shakespearean
like sublime

they must be much more kind
than anyone can conceive me
like having the Bard’s mind

He must be groaning and turning
Oh god
have you again sent me?

As WINTERS BLUR

Through the distant bare limbed trees,
all white with frost this winter day
the sun peeks with the slightest tease
blinking the last of night away.

A few doves rocket through the gelid sky
bound somewhere to break their fast.
For them speed limits don't apply.
I wave at them and then they're passed.

Clouds of breath drift toward the south
propelled by the barest chilly breeze
then I breathe tasting winter in my mouth
here where the field abuts old trees.

A Kiss of Winter (Winter season Contest)

As the first snowflake fell upon the land,
it brings about both joy and sadness.

The families huddling together in warm houses,
sheltered from the dreaded cold and loneliness,
will be placing parcels of gifts around their christmas trees
or sharing wonderful stories of delights in company.

To them it is the season to be celebrated together
as they sing the carols and play games with each other.
A chance to display their love to the young and old
and to remember the treasure that is greater than gold.

Sleep Tight

Green eyes fade to black as
ghosts come to life and scream

For eyes to remain closed
'til deep through the night
and play keep away with
the soft blanket of light

Visions play out scenes
to instill the fears
that come with break-
ing dawns and aching years

Black eyes fade to green
wiping away the crust of night
unaware of the ghosts
that remain throughout the light
to seal the fate of their hosts
in a battle where there is no fight

CRYSTAL FIRE

CRYSTAL FIRE

I don’t have second sight,
no tarot cards or crystal ball
to burn a portal into Time
and know what tomorrow will bring.
I see the future empirically:
as far as my mind can tell
today will be much the same
as yesterday…but a second,
a moment in time and space
can bring your world
to a sudden end
and nothing will be as it was
again
the process will begin
we all need to face...and Time
will have its revenge.

An Early Dusk with Single Malt

In all the “Once upon a times”
I have ever heard or witnessed,
the story that most soothes my soul
begins with the end of Autumn.

This tale starts with trepidation
and meanders through a landscape
slowly fading to shades of grey
like memories cast in shadow.

It is here I feel the voices,
echoing brightly through the years,
with remembrances softly
crooning songs of joy and regret.
